I promised an honest, fair review. I would hire them again, and I would recommend them to others with conditions.
The good – they're arrival was right on time. Willian, the head (owner?) of the company is very nice, very professional. His crew were also extremely easy to work with and very professional. Most of their work was very good. Three guys showed up, and they laid about 400sf of bamboo plank, and 260 lf of baseboards and shoe molding in about 9 1/2 hours.
The not-so-good – Willian assured us that the final job would be perfect. I don’t expect perfection, but he set the bar pretty high, and we are a bit disappointed in the final look. I explained how important it was to me that the planks be exceptionally randomly staggered, and he assured me they definitely would be. They aren't. Two huge areas of stair-stepped planking which is making me a little batty – good thing we were planning on rugs anyway. Also, they were supposed to bring their own caulk for nail holes and joints in the trim, but they didn’t. They asked me to get some at Lowe's while I was getting the baseboard, and apparently I managed to buy the wrong stuff, which they used all day, leaving all of the nail holes exposed and joints looking very rough. I also bought 240 lf (based on both their and our measurements) of baseboard and shoe moulding. For some reason, I ended up needing to go back and buy an additional 24 lf of baseboard, 8 lf of the shoe moulding because they ran out. Likewise on the planks, there was quite a bit of waste, which probably cost me an extra box. And by the end of the day, they were ready to go, and when we pointed out the problems with the joints and nail holes, they addressed it but their van was already outside running, and they clearly weren’t pleased with having to go back and try to fix a number of things that should have been addressed much earlier in the day.
So, the bottom line, yes in fact I would hire them again, but I would keep a much closer eye on the work during the entire project. Willian asked us to stay out of the way and let them work as much as possible, and we did, to our detriment. The final job looks about 75% as good as it should have based on our expectations and cost. But they did clean up the entire area where they worked, took the empty boxes with them, and again, the guys who stayed (Willian had to leave for a different job in Cincinnati) were great to work with.
