Let me preface this review by stating that I have nothing to gain by writing this review. I am a real estate agent however I have no affiliation with any specific contractors of any type therefore I have nothing to gain by writing this. This review is based solely on my own experience with Bill Lewis for the inspections he performed on my own home. Having said that, I deal with home inspectors all of the time and like any profession there are some that are better then others. I just feel as though credit should be given where it’s due so I’m writing this review from a view point that the average home owner probably doesn’t have because of my active involvement with inspections for my clients. Bill was tremendous in every way possible. Not only did he spend almost 4 hours at our home (not the norm…usually whole house inspections are completed within 1.5-2 hrs). This is a reflection of how very thorough he is. Not only does he have decades of construction experience but he’s also a teacher who knows a ton about every component of home construction. He was very accommodating, patient and took the time to explain all details of his findings using terms easily understandable regarding construction/electrical/plumbing/architecture etc. I can’t stress enough the importance of having someone like Bill who IS certified (many people don’t realize that very often “home inspectors” are not nor do they have to be certified. He performed tests on every aspect of our home and went above and beyond any inspection I’ve ever been a part of. He explained which repairs should take priority and which ones are superficial/cosmetic. We are very pleased with using his services and would vouch for his professional integrity any time. I 110% recommend using Lewis Property Inspection and Contracting for any building service you have.

Steve repaired a plumbing leak issue and did drywall work for my family. I must say we were extremely pleased with Steve's work and professionalism. Very affordable pricing. Meticulous and neat. I will be recommending Steve to other family members and friends. Steve is replacing a bathroom exhaust fan for me next week. You can't go wrong with Steve.

Brad is a wonderful and honest person. We had the water seepage in our basement, and hired one whom was referred by the Basement Doctor. He charged me of $3800 for just sucking up the water. Thanks Home Advisor where I found Brad. He re-sucked up the remaining water on the carpet and pad, dried, and dehumidified the basement carpet with a reasonable price. With his help, we saved a lot of money. I really trust him. I consider his as a friend!

I can't say enough good things about how hard this guy worked and took on a almost impossible challenge with ease . I called almost every contractor and carpenter in the area to see if anyone was even willing to attempt to build a operational full-sized catapult, in two days. Understandably on a holiday weekend, with short notice, and limited details..... as well as no operational knowledge of how to do this..... There were no takers. I tried a few placement services and thumbtack was the only one that had a response, Jarrod was not only willing to give it a try he sounded excited to take on the challenge and confident that he could give us something pretty close to what we were looking for. Not only did he do that he went above and beyond with attention to every detail so the finished product look fantastic. Even at the zero hour working under a tight television production schedule, .....as this was our key prop needed for an important shot and losing daylight , He showed remarkable poise under pressure. Working with our very particular client he was capable of adapting and taking outside suggestions to achieve our final goal of a seriously bad ass working catapult. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jurugdMcfyo Watch it here. If you need a catapult too.....then call this guy. Any more reasonable request I am certain he will provide the best craftsmanship available at a fair rate.

I put out a request for contractors to review a balcony renovation and to bid on the first phase of removing all the wood tongue and groove ceiling on all 3 balconies (approx 1000 sq ft) Xclusive Home was the first to respond with availability as well as informing me that there is a no cost evaluation to obtain an estimate. Mr. Collier arrived on time, was extremely courteous and professional, took his time to review and analyze the balconies and after spending approximately 45 minutes explaining what he saw and how best to move forward, substantiated that he has the knowledge and skill in his field. After 3 additional contractor reviews, Xclusive Home offered the most competitive bid and was awarded the job. I highly recommend Mr. Collier and his team.

I am 14 year contractor from florida and was able to find Alan for a kitchen remodel in Gahanna, on thumbtack. He was awesome, hard working, polite, money conscience, very detailed, and honest. He worked late most days but his number one trait was he wants to do it right! This is a hard character to find nowadays. I would refer him to anyone and will be contract his services again. We had a Conversation on one small thing he needs to work on from a professional view, this set him above the rest! Alan was hired to patch and repair alot of drywall but he performed other tasks above and beyond.

I had budgeted for over a year to remodel my Master bathroom and I am generally a bit nervous about contractors in my home. Greg had a vision for my bathroom that I never could have possible envisioned myself. He has a "designer eye" without the exorbitant designer price tag of some of the other contractors. The owner of "If I had a Hammer" is Greg Wentz. Greg put me at ease throughout the entire process. Quality job that was on time and with no big fuss. I LOVE my new bathroom!

I had deck repairs and painting performed. Rick came out and gave me the quote. We went with Ozmar because of the gut feeling. They were not the lowest bid, not the highest, but felt comfortable with them. They started the project and upon repairing the deck found sections of rotted wood/carpenter ant nest. They redid these sections and you would never know by looking as it was an exact match. They painted the entire deck (this is a large deck with a pergola). The crews were great and they left the area clean when they left. I would highly recommend Ozmar Field Services to my friends and neighbors. They truly cared about my satisfaction and that really meant a lot!

I needed work done to prepare my home for sale; it was in Powell. I had three contractors bid on the jobs; on all jobs, Mark was the lowest or near the lower amount. The work included basement work, backyard decking, and sub- flooring. I was extremely pleased with the work that was done, and the quality of his work was reflected in the sale price and comments of those that saw the home.

I'm a retired remodeling contractor but still do work at a slower pace. I found Super Plumbers through Thumbtack, my regular plumber wasn't available. I can say this will be the plumbing company I will call in the future. They responded quickly, work was excellent, timely and charge was right in line with what they accomplished. I would highly recommend them. Ray Kocheran President of Innovative-Surfaces & Custom Remodeling

When Centex built our home in 2003, they went cheap and instead of using a pipe that fit, they soldered extensively behind the wall to our shower to make the pipes fit. When we went to replace the leaking shower head, we found this issue. The soldering had broke and needed to be repaired. We hired, after hiring several other contractors, Blessed, to come fix the issue. I corresponded with April, the owner, and arranged for the service. Bill called about 30 minutes out and arrived on time. I showed the Bill the problem, and he immediately knew what was the issue and how to fix it. I am currently on crutches so I was hesitant as I could not get in and out of the basement to turn off the water. Not needed. Bill was able to remove the old soldering, install a coupling, etc - and do all that plumbing stuff that I have no clue how to do. Long story short, he was done in about an hour and the cost was $25 less than he had quoted. He advised what small items we needed to do ourselves (he could have, but I asked if we could finish this part) to get the shower working - install face plate, and handle, etc. Note, others had given me estimates of a low of $500 up to over $1K. We found Blessed Plumbing also on the Blue Pages (Christian yellow pages) and were very confident with his work. He even gave some other suggestions on issues we were having (water hammer) and offered some maintenance advice on our aging sump pump. I enjoyed my encounter with this company and would not hesitate to call on them again for any plumbing problem we encounter. It is hard and rare to find honest people/contractors.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

    • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
    • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
    • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.

Follow these additional tips for confidently hiring a plumber or other skilled professional.
