When I first started training with Eric I weighed 160 lbs and barely knew how to handle a barbell. After following his programming I put on over 35 lbs of muscle, doubled my bench press, squat and deadlift weight, and over time learned the best way to develop and follow my own exercise programs. Thanks to his coaching, I actually ended up changing my career path and now manage my own gym! Could not recommend more. Thanks man!

Highly recommended personal trainer! Illirjana is exceptional at fitness, customizing your workout, and personalizing the entire experience. She has an answer and/or resource for any roadblock, excuse, or misstep, but not in an annoying, condescending way that can sometimes accompany individuals with a healthy lifestyle. Very practical and encouraging. I am confident I will reach my fitness goals and know that when I do, she will have already set new heights for me to reach.

I’ve been with Gentry for nearly 2 years now and can’t imagine working with another trainer. I LOVE her small group fitness classes. Every workout is different and I don’t think I’ve done the same workout twice in the 2 years I’ve been with her! They are challenging and I’ve made so much progress with my strength and weight loss. Gentry’s positive attitude and caring demeanor really set her apart from other trainers. She’s been instrumental to changing my lifestyle and achieving my fitness goals!

If you are looking for a Personal trainer and fitness coach Shelby is your girl! I have been working with her for about 10 months and I have experienced an incredible change in my physical appearance and gained more confidence in myself. She not only takes me through great workouts she also helps me with my nutrition and meal planning. She’s tough on me in the gym but she instills the confidence in me that I need to complete workouts I never thought I could do.

Tifiro has been my trainer for over 4 years and it has been awesome experience. He promotes living a healthy lifestyle, good nutrition plan and a hard workout. At the gym he always make sure you perfect your technique when working out. His pleasant personality makes your hard workout fun. With his training skills I entered a figured competition and placed 5th in Master 50 plus. The quality of his training skills are outstanding.

I worked with Allen in Encinitas, California, and was pleasantly surprised with his knowledge base and willingness to adjust the workout to my needs. I am a former athlete with bad knees and back, but a love for kettlebells and strength training. Allen's ability to tailor a perfect workout, and adjust as needed, allowed me to lose weight, gain energy, and gain strength and great posture! He was always inspiring and patient when I wanted to give up or skip a particular exercise. I highly recommend Allen to anyone who wants to make health and fitness a lifestyle and not just a part time notion. He can get you where you need to go in a calm, respectful, and fun way. Work with him and you won't be disappointed. He was able to compete with a very saturated pool of trainer in a part of the country where most people are fit and health conscious. That is impressive!

Brian is one of the best coaches and teachers I've ever worked with. He cares about his clients, about their well-being and success. He designs workouts specific to each client, with you and your skillset and goals in mind. Brian is so communicative, available when you need him for advice or guidance or just a quick question. He goes above and beyond what is asked of him. I'd be hard-pressed to give a higher recommendation to anyone.

I've known Sarah for a little over two years. She's always been a passionate and inspirational person. I found her personal weight loss journey to be interesting and started asking questions. Next thing I knew I was joining a gym. My first day there, Sarah joined me as a guest to give me a few tips to get started. It was definitely not what I was expecting! She truly has a different approach to fitness that feels like anyone can accomplish their goals. It was my first time in a gym in 5 years. She worked me hard, but it was clear she knew what I could and couldn't handle. Her kind motivating words made the overall experience great! I learned so much in just learning a few moves and techniques. It was all about form, not how much weight or how fast I could do something. It's in my mind when in the gym. Her coaching will always stick with me!

My work stands out because I am the only person in all of central Ohio that brings the combination of both Muscle Activation Techniques and Nikken Inc.. This is extremely important for anyone that truly wants to look, feel, and perform the best they possibly can because there is nothing else in the whole world that impacts the human body like MAT and Nikken!!! There are many doctors and other medical professionals, as well as professional and Olympic athletes that are very impressed with both MAT and Nikken. When you feel and see what they both can do for you, you will also be blown away!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

      What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

      Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
