Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: The deep tissue technique I use is called trigger point (or myofascial ) therapy. Done well, it is a very effective treatment for tight or imbalanced muscles. I do use other techniques as appropriate. If a new client has prior experience with massage therapy we discuss what has worked, or not worked, in the past. Every massage, even for repeat clients, is different, as we discuss before beginning what the goals are for that day & how to reach them. In addition to over 25 years as a licensed MT (working full-time for most of that), my previous medical background allows me to treat complex issues or pain issues in a more thorough way than many MT. As a result, many referrals come from doctors and chiropractors. My clients range from elite athletes recovering from injuries to folks in their 80's working to retain function. There is no charge for chatting by phone and I love to do that as finding a therapist that's a 'good fit' is important. I love the puzzle. Every day, every appointment, even with people I have been seeing for 20 years, is new. Putting together what people tell me is happening in their body with what I sense from my hands, and using that to change how they feel brings a very personal satisfaction and joy. I consider it a privilege that people allow me to help them. It's hard to describe how humbling it is to have that kind of trust put in me, and I feel lucky to be able to do the work I do. I love both the work itself, and the result of improving how people feel.

Helene is outstanding! i was referred to her approx 20 years ago by a physical therapist at a local hospital following a car accident. I am currently back in her care as I tore my hip flexor and the physical therapist I was seeing said they couldn't do anything more to help. I have gotten SO much better since going to Helene again and am very optimistic that I will ultimately be healthy again due to her therapy. She is knowledgeable, extremely thorough, encouraging, and at same time puts you completely at ease with her caring sense of humor.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I work most commonly with people who are recovering from injuries or who have chronic issues such as migraine headaches or carpel tunnel syndrome. I do a medical type of massage called myofascial therapy for most of my clients, although I am very good at Swedish (relaxation) massages as well.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Ask lots of questions of someone you are considering as a massage therapist. Many people have been licensed for a long time, but that doesn't mean they have a lot of experience... you can hold a license but not actually see lots of clients! I have had a license for 20 years, and have been working full time as a therapist for most of those 20 years. That translates to many thousands of hours of experience.
