HisGrace plumbing was great to work with. To start with, Gabriel was very helpful, giving advice on product choices prior to the installation so I made the correct selection of parts. He did a great job installing our garbage disposal, and it is working well. We also used him to install a new sink and faucet, with excellent results as well. He was very good to work with and performed quality work for a very reasonable price. We will definitely use him again for any plumbing needs we may have.

We hired Jim to install a new dishwasher. He was prompt and did a wonderful job. I also had him check out some other small issues around the house, and he took care of them excellently as well. Would highly recommend hiring Jim.

Wade was very punctual. Called if he was delayed. Observed issues with plumbing, made repairs the following day with only about an hour of down time with my water system. Would recommend them again, price was reasonable for work performed.

Bill met me at a commercial site to see if I needed to repair or replace the ceiling mount projector screen. He did an excellent job at getting it to work. I called him on Thursday and he met me at the site on Friday morning right before Christmas. He is punctual and reasonably priced. I will definitely use his services for my next project. He is the best!

I had the Happyhome Handyman Service install a mantle above my fireplace. There was a small amount of custom work required, but he completed the project with aplomb. Very impressed by the knowledge and diligence of the professional.

Multi-phased two story project involving demo/repair/replace/paint. Replaced deteriorated siding; rebuilt main entry/porch/cupola; replaced planking as necessary on large deck area; add trim to house/deck juncture. Paint everything (2 tones) including: 2 outbuildings; lattice deck skirting; 2 frontage fence sections; sand and paint new steel vehicle gate to match. Paul, Doug and Bill were friendly and accomodating and worked diligently and as quickly as weather allowed. (Summer 2018 is one for the books for rain and heat.) They sweltered through the heat; but couldn't do anything about painting in the rain. Paid final invoice on final day with promise to return if necessary for satisfaction. Sure enough as we began replacing deck/entry decorations over the next few days we found a couple of small "misses". Txtd Paul with photos and he was here THE NEXT MORNING to complete. Value? See above. Cost? Very reasonable, considering the various skills and equipment and materials needed. Would we hire again...yes.

Anthony responded to my call and maintained good communications - text me when he was on his way - identified the problem - made the repair and was gone. Tony was prompt, professional and personable. Made no excuse that he had to pick up the part...he came prepared. I will call him if I need additional assitance in the future - give him a call and see for yourself.

I hired Greg with “If I had a Hammer” back in November 2016 for a complete bathroom remodel, new siding, new electrical and plumbing and several other renovation needs for a bank owned home I purchased. I tried to get multiple bids from different contractors that specialized in different work that was required but Greg was the only contractor that assured me his company could handle all of my project needs in one bid. I had a strict budget and only expected to get the essentials handled because I knew the cost of each project. Not only did Greg go above and beyond on the bathroom remodel but he did so many extra tasks around the home that completely brought my house together. He literally treated my home as if it was his (a lot of contractors will say they will do this but HE actually did). I have to tell this one example because I think it says so much about what kind of contractor & person he is. I had to have a mold remediation specialist come in for mold in my basement/garage (the only other contractor that I used) and I was unable to oversee their work due to other obligations. Greg came to the house to check on the job and saw that they were doing an extremely poor job. He took pictures of their work and sent it to me. This was a huge deal because I would never have second guessed the remediation myself since I was unfamiliar with it. I asked them to come back and asked Greg if he would oversee it for me. My basement is beautiful and entirely clear of mold because of his efforts. I highly recommend “If I had a Hammer” for all of your project needs. Greg himself is a man of few words lol so don’t let that throw you off, BUT I can promise you he is trustworthy, hardworking and genuinely loves to doing the work that he does – which is a rarity. You will NOT regret hiring him.

I contacted Mustard General Contracting, Home Improvements, Handyman Service to install and stain four interior doors. Mark was highly professional and efficient in his work. He did a superb job of matching the stain of the other doors. I particularly liked the fact that he responded quickly to my call. I will be using him for additional projects in preparation for selling our house.

The service that ComfortXpress provide was excellent, beginning from the engery consulant Scott Fryman, to the crew (Mick, Brandon, Chad and Dean) who came to install our Trane furnace. We transitioned for a Lenox all Electric to a Trane dual use propane/electric furnace/heat pump. Scott and the crew communicated with use the whole time understood our needs and meet all expectations. The ComfortXpress crew was not only on time, but usually about 10-minutes early, which is something you only see in the military. I plan on using them for all future heating and cooling needs and will recommend them to friends and family that live in our area who need heating and cooling services.

Curt has done all our house painting for us since 2004. Curt recently has done all the painting and repairs to our home before it was put on the market. It included wall paper removal, drywall repair, exterior door replacement and interior and exterior painting. He is fast, neat and very reasonably priced. We hope to get him to come to NC and work on our new house.

Keith showed up promptly, was very thorough in his explanations of the plumbing and electric problems we had, and gave us multiple options for repair based on our desired budget. He also jumped in and helped with a light fixture install at the last minute, for the same hourly rate. Very professional and did quality work!

When Centex built our home in 2003, they went cheap and instead of using a pipe that fit, they soldered extensively behind the wall to our shower to make the pipes fit. When we went to replace the leaking shower head, we found this issue. The soldering had broke and needed to be repaired. We hired, after hiring several other contractors, Blessed, to come fix the issue. I corresponded with April, the owner, and arranged for the service. Bill called about 30 minutes out and arrived on time. I showed the Bill the problem, and he immediately knew what was the issue and how to fix it. I am currently on crutches so I was hesitant as I could not get in and out of the basement to turn off the water. Not needed. Bill was able to remove the old soldering, install a coupling, etc - and do all that plumbing stuff that I have no clue how to do. Long story short, he was done in about an hour and the cost was $25 less than he had quoted. He advised what small items we needed to do ourselves (he could have, but I asked if we could finish this part) to get the shower working - install face plate, and handle, etc. Note, others had given me estimates of a low of $500 up to over $1K. We found Blessed Plumbing also on the Blue Pages (Christian yellow pages) and were very confident with his work. He even gave some other suggestions on issues we were having (water hammer) and offered some maintenance advice on our aging sump pump. I enjoyed my encounter with this company and would not hesitate to call on them again for any plumbing problem we encounter. It is hard and rare to find honest people/contractors.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
