Introduction: My name is Joel Brandon and I am an NASM certified personal trainer with dual degrees in Kinesiology and Psychology. I currently perform home training around the Columbus area and also utilize the Training Grounds Gym in Dublin. Over this past challenging year I have gained experience in helping clients achieve a variety of goals such as healthy aging, body recomposition, and athletic performance. I typically schedule a free assessment where I get an idea of your needs and allow you to get to know me and my training style. Next, I'll schedule a first workout where you will get a sample of what it's like to train with me! I want to grow people's love and understanding of fitness so they can develop the physical aspect of their lives!

If you want to challenge yourself and dramatically improve your fitness (no matter your experience level) you must contact Joel! He has been incredibly helpful for someone like myself who’s got a good grasp of the basics but really wanted make the jump into enhancing not only my physical build but also my overall knowledge of what it takes to be “fit” from a nutrition-packed diet to a well-structured workout routine. On top of all the positives I’ve encountered thus far, the professionalism and charisma that I was met with during the free consultation session he offers was really the dealbreaker for me. I’m excited to continue working with him.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I am willing to offer discounts for group training and 3+ session a week. Training for two persons at once is $40 per person and training for three persons is $33 per person. I have done group sessions in the past and found them to be fun and encouraging for trainees. If a trainee is willing to commit to three or more sessions a week I'm willing to offer an additional discount. If I am doing at home training I may add a slight additional charge for travel.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

My process for working with a client involves a free fitness assessment and abbreviated initial session. I want to give power to the client in making sure they have a good match with me as a trainer and give them concrete goals they can expect to see improvement on. After getting an idea of what goals a client has and where their fitness baseline is I will construct a personalized program to guide our training. I am a believer in the NASM doctrine of periodization, which entails a process of building stability, endurance, strength, and power. I have personally seen the benefits of beginning with a strong foundation and later adding new training methodologies to keep things novel with maximum benefits. Of course this methodology will vary to specifically fit clients wants and needs but this is my general system.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

My professional history is in the field of health; specifically I worked for two years as an EMT and maintain that certification in addition to my NASM certification. I graduated from Miami University with dual majors in Kinesiology and Psychology that aid me in treating both physical and mental health. I have a personal background and passion for sports and fitness training.
