License Type: Minister (OH)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After I get a deposit to save the date in my calendar, I send you a variety of ceremonies from which you can choose or mix-and-match. We discuss any special rituals, such as a sand ceremony, that you would also like to include. Sometimes a couple wants a more unusual ceremony, such as Wiccan or with hand-fasting, and I find examples of such things for you (at no extra charge, of course). I am able to help organize the entrance of the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Most weddings don't seem to need a rehearsal, and I can be helpful in putting together the details on the wedding day. On the day of the wedding, I have been told that I am a calming presence in the midst of great activity. I hope I could do that for you.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two degrees in theology, and M.T.S. and an M.Div. I am a minister in the Unitarian Universalist church, but am very happy to put together ceremonies from other traditions, or ceremonies that have no religious affiliation.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I love weddings. As a minister, one of my favorite duties is to perform weddings. Weddings give me an opportunity to work with a great variety of people: I have performed weddings for same-sex couples, people from many (or no) religious backgrounds, and so many ethnicities. I discovered I was good at getting a vision for what people wanted in a ceremony and helping them make it happen.
