- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. Gather and review the client’s financial documents: The first step in working with a new tax client is to gather relevant documents, such as W2s, 1099s, bank statements, and other documents related to their income, investments, and deductions. 2. Take time to get to know the client and ask questions to build a good relationship. This will help ensure the client will be forthcoming with all the relevant information you need. 3. Using the information provided by the client, create a tax return based on their income, deductions, and other factors. 4. Check for accuracy: Review the tax return for any errors or discrepancies before filing it. 5. File the completed tax return promptly to avoid penalties. 6. Offer advice and planning opportunities: Once you’ve filed the tax return, take the opportunity to offer advice and planning opportunities to the client to help reduce their tax liabilities and improve their financial security.
