Mary M. says, "I was actually trying to decide between two plumbers. I called Nick first. He told me that I had a quality brand hot water heater. When I told him that I didn't know how old it was, he asked for the serial number and called to inquire. Without stepping a foot in my home, he pretty much diagnosed the problem based on my description of the situation and told me that I would be better off buying an entire new unit and not just the part that malfunctioned.
I called a second plumber who quoted me an estimate to replace the unit. He asked me for the brand of water heater, then cited a fee to come out (though his Thumbtack profile states that there wouldn't be a fee). After he sent workers out, I learned that he planned to install a lower quality hot water heater and would charge $250 more when I assisted that he install the brand I had. I declined that plumber the deal based on his shady practice.
When I called Nick back and told him my experience, he wasn't surprised.
Nick came out in less than 2 hours with the same brand and took his time to explain everything to me and told me how to maintain the unit. I had the benefit of quality work and honesty. After he completed the job, he even took time to address an ongoing toilet problem that I was having. This was an overall great experience for a better value.
I've found my plumber for any issues moving forward."See more
