Anthony Hancovsky and Emperial homes did some contract work in my bathroom. He cut and installed an exhaust fan. All work was completed in a timely and professional manner! All work areas were cleaned and the pricing of the job was competitive. It was a very good experience, so i had him return for other work!

Anthony replaced drywall and textured ceiling in my kitchen and 1/2 bathroom, put in new flooring in the bathroom and repaired my roof. All were done to my satisfaction. He was conscientious, thorough and efficient. I would definitely recommend him to others.

There I so much to say so I am going to bullet my comments below to keep this short since I am at work right now but I want to point out all the reasons below that Anthony breached the contract for the repairs to my home and the damage this company has caused. Also I am going to show you the daily log I kept and how unprofessional he was. • Wednesday 2/24 he showed up 2 hours late on the very first day and had an incomplete contract with him that I was to receive prior to his arrival. I gave him the $300 deposit required by the contract. He also did not write up a 3 day right to cancel on a separate contract. ? He removed my toilet and bathroom sink incorrectly and caused an abundant amount of water to flush down over my electrical furnace causing my kids and I too have NO heat until the furnace tech that I paid for to arrive the next day. ? He didn’t cap my pipes from the bathroom sink but instead put my buckets underneath it and told me to just keep dumping the water into the tub and he will be back in the morning. I had to go to Lowes and buy caps. • Thursday 2/25 he never showed and I text him and told him the day before that I would keep my home unlocked for him so he could get this going. Also he initially mentioned that my projects would be completed by end of this day. • Friday 2/26 he arrived at 5pm and left at 8pm and still did not have my bathroom complete to where my sink was sitting in my tub and the toilet was hooked up but wobbling all over. He also left drywall dust everywhere and didn’t clean up after himself and told me that he didn’t have his shop-vac and since I have asthma , I had to go out that night and buy a shop-vac . • Saturday 2/27 he didn’t arrive until 1pm and he brought his 12 year old nephew that I had to pretty much babysit and watch T.V. with until 5:30pm • Sunday 2/28 he didn’t arrive until 3:30pm and only worked until 6pm and he still didn’t complete the leak in the bathroom that he caused by removing my sink incorrectly and he still didn’t paint the basement stairwell area or carpet my steps. ? Note that the contract states the job was to be completed by end of February 28th 2016. Which it was not. • Monday 2/29 he was notified that I will once again leave my home unlocked for him and he arrived around 2:30pm – and at 7pm he mentioned he was done and I inspected his work and it was horrible! I told him it was horrible and he became confrontational and my children were home. He mentioned that he couldn’t leave without getting paid something so to avoid any more confrontation I wrote him a $200 check and he left. • I have pictures from 2/24 thru 2/29 of his unprofessional repairs that he did to my home that I need to re-hire someone to have them fix. After he left my home and I told him that I was dissatisfied I went back downstairs to take more pictures and the steps felt strange so I went around the back of the stairwell and noticed he popped out the back of the step and left it there and didn’t even tell me! I have children and this could have caused injury! • I have receipts stemming from the Furnace Tech repairs , the shop-vac, piping from the sink, heater for the bathroom floor that he saturated. I am still trying to clean the drywall and putty that he has all over my basement floor. He also never provided me receipts per the contract for supplies purchased. I can clearly see that the drywall and trim he used was in fact this, "used scraps" because they were in pieces and marked up. • I still have to hire someone for the following: ? 1)To sand and repaint my bathroom due to him putting up old scraps of trim that was 2 inches shorter in place of my tile that was a boarder around the wall. ? 2)The mudding job he did with the scrap pieces of drywall he hung is clearly visible and protruding out of the wall and looks horrible. ? 3)The other wall going down the staircase is less putty design and looks incomplete. ? 4)To take out and re-do the carpet he cut up crooked going down my stairs. ? 5)To fix the back of my staircase for safety that he knocked out. I have been crying all day at work because I used my tax refund to try and make my home I just purchased a year ago nice for my children.
Emperial Homes, LLC's reply
This was a terrible experience for me. This customer feels the way she does. She made it hard on me from the beginning and leaves out all kinds pieces to the story. She was aware there could be some plumbing issues with the stop valves prior to me disconnecting the bathroom sink. They were faultly and leaking. She told me not to repair them since when I would hook the sink back up the next day they would be fine. I even offered just to do it for the cost of the valves since I had them on my truck. She said no. I also pointed out that they had been leaking and there was a mildew and mold stain on the sub floor. Also that per the contract we needed to either raise the sub floor or that I could build up and caulk the seam around the toilet prior to laying the vinyl sheeting. She told be to build up and caulk since she didn't want to pay for the plywood ($20) to build up the floor. We also agreed to a $30 budget on the flooring since I was responsible to pay for materials and she would pay the difference. She chose $96 worth of flooring. The next morning my truck broke down in Bath Ohio when I was on my way to her house. It was a blizzard out. My car was in Cleveland and by the time I got the truck sorted out and to my car there wasn't much I could do. The next day she asked me not to come until she got off work. That entire day I was receiving all kinds of text messages from her giving me more of a hard time. When I arrived at 4:30 I seen she had someone install new stop valves on the bathroom sink supply lines. I thought that was funny. Especially since she keeps talking about buy caps to stop the leak her faulty valves caused. She flat out told me she didn't want to do any plumbing work and then I see this. She also complained about the furnace saying its an electric furnace. Well I also looked at the furnace. Its a gas furnace. She asked me to texture the walls going down the steps instead of leaving them smooth. I did my best to match the existing walls in that hallway since I only did halfway up. Anyone who does drywall work knows how hard it is do an exact match when you don't know what tool or the mix ratio the last guy used. It was a total of 43sqft. Not even two sheets of sheetrock. I even used mold resistant green boards since it was to the basement. I don't know why she thinks I used scraps. And the molding I put was straight out of the store. We removed 6" of ceramic tile off the walls and she knew the 4" baseboard wasn't going to cover the entire wall that she would have to sand and paint. I told her I would do the repair since I was already doing the other walls going to the basement. I did use a half a bag of mud I already had. If I would have had the drywall laying around the shop I would have used it anyway. Its not like food it doesn't spoil. Since I was in my car that day I wasn't able to jam everything in there so I didn't have a shop vac. I did begin to clean the place in a broom cleaned environment prior to leaving per the contract and she said don't worry about it my friend is bringing a shop vac. I was open and honest with her about everything from the beginning to the end. Things just came up and none of it was in my control. I dealt with and continued to move forward until the job was complete. By the end of the job, which was a day late due to my truck breaking down, she was satisfied with everything. I told her from the beginning that I teach, train and have my nephew on Saturdays and that I could not work on Saturdays. Once my truck broke down I agreed that I could cancel my Saturday responsibilities and come out. I ended up having to bring my nephew. He has worked on a few jobs for me over this last summer and his last Christmas break from school. Once we got there she asked me about a half hr into us working if my nephew wanted to play Xbox with her son. I let him. Now she is complaining about it and saying she baby sat him. I am not perfect I make mistakes. Like I said this was a miserable experience from prior to signing the contract to the end. While doing the carpet which was the last part of the job her steps kept falling apart. I kept rebuilding them. The back kick plates were so thin my staples barley would hold them together. They really didn't come out how I would have liked them to come out. Given the circumstances I told Valorie that I would remove the cost of the carpet portion of the job from the invoice since she wasn't satisfied with it. Then she told me she wasn't paying the balance and started bringing up all these other complaints. When I told her I follow through in the collection process I noticed this review pop up on here. So I figured since there is two sides to every story I should share with you all mine. Again, I am not perfect. I do make up for my mistakes and honor all of my warranties. I have survived for 6 years off of referrals. I've since been hired by two other people off of Thumbtack (that's how I heard about this review). Feel free to ask for references and I will give them to you if this review makes you curious about whether or not to hire us.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

My father use to take me to work with him when I was in middle school and high school. I grew found of the opportunity to build and be creative. When the mortgage industry collapsed in 2008 I lost my job as a loan officer and started buying houses to rent out and was doing all my own repairs. After two years I started Emperial Homes. Now, here we are nearly 7 years later. Seems like just yesterday.
