FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Besides the training I received growing up with a craftsman, I spent the last 2 years of high school at the MCJVS (Montgomery County Joint Vocational School, now MVCTC). Soon after I graduated, I started working for an uncle who was an electrical contractor. I have participated in many classes, seminars, and courses over the years to get and maintain my electrical and fire alarm licenses. I am no longer licensed, but still enjoy 'keeping up' with the trades by magazines and FB groups.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started going to work with my dad when I was 8 years old. He was a fine finish carpenter and renowned craftsman in the Dayton area. He gave me little projects that would have been easier for him to do than to teach and supervise me. I was the 'nuisance kid' who was sticking my head under the sink asking the plumber what he was doing, and why. I learned a lot from tradesmen who cared about the quality of their work.
