I highly recommend Eko Movers as a local moving service in the Dayton Metro! We found them through Thumbtack, and were immediately impressed with how easy it was to stay in contact with them, as they answer emails incredibly fast! Though their estimate was the second highest of five estimates we received, theirs and one other were the only ones who offered a guaranteed flat rate that wouldn't change as the move progressed. To us, that was worth it's weight in gold, as we could not afford to not know how much the move would cost ahead of time! On this basis, along with the fact that they were flexible on days and ok with last minute changes if they happened, we hired them feeling confident we had made a smart choice. We also liked their focus on environmental care, and enjoyed hearing how they plant a tree for every completed move! Their movers do not smoke on the job, which I really appreciated as someone with sensitivities to smoke. They arrived the day of the move severely understaffed for reasons I believe to be out of their control, and due to this, the move ended up going quite late both days. The real mark of a great business though, is not that they do not make mistakes (we're ALL human after all!) but how they react to mistakes. That really says a lot about a person, a business, you name it. Eko Movers somehow kept finding more movers to bring out as the day went on, both days, and the same thing with trucks. One by one, more showed up. The most impressive thing was that they kept on working and working, tirelessly, until the wee hours of the night to get the job done on time! I was thankful for that, very very thankful, as I had to clean the house we were moving out of the next days, and needed that time to be there. If I had any constructive criticism to give, I would say that some boxes (only a few really, it was from one particular closet) containing delicate things were not quite packed the way I would have wanted them packed (lacked separation and padding) however, the only thing that was broken in my whole move was a picnic basket that wasn't protected in the truck completely unrelated. They got the job done right, their way, and nothing else was damaged except for a little gash in my front door of the new house. They offered to fix the front door gash and replace the picnic basket, no hassle at all. I haven't taken them up on it, I hardly notice it. It's really small beans compared to all the other moves we've completed in the last decade where huge amounts of things were broken everywhere! The last thing I will add, is that going into this I did not realize that it was customary to provide a tip of about $20 per person, per day. With the multitude of packers/movers being brought in all throughout the day up to the last minutes both days, it made it really expensive and confusing to figure out how to tip everyone, necessitating runs back and forth to the atm for more money as more people would show up unexpectedly. It was hard to decide if tipping one person $20 for working all day and another the same for showing up in the last moments was fair or the right way to do it, but in the end we opted to just treat everyone fully and equal, to make sure they all felt valued and appreciated. We wished we would have known ahead of time how many people were coming, and what we should give them to take proper care of them! It was one of those things that we had to really think out, having never done this before, in the middle of a stressful busy time, but we are glad we did. We also ended up buying them lunch (second day only) and providing drinks and snacks both days. I fear they would have starved had we not! They certainly deserved it, they worked their tails off and were very, very polite! Just adding that to prospective clients, so if you were like me and didn't know, you know now and can plan for it better than we did. :) It's a hard job to do, after all! You've got to take good care of them! They are moving your life, after all. It's a precious relationship, if you think about it. I would not hesitate to use EkoMovers again. They got the job done at a predictable price we could afford and virtually no damage except for the afore mentioned. No surprises in the final bill minus the gratuity thing which easily ran a couple hundred more but was well earned and freely given. The only thing I'd love now is a copy of our contract and receipt since they didn't have one on hand for us when they came out. I wasn't sure if they would mail it or if I had to request it. I'll go ahead and request it in the coming days. They were so accommodating, if I had mentioned that I really needed it the last day of work, they would have found a way to get it to me I'm sure. They really took awesome care of us, in every way possible. In conclusion, I think Eko Movers is a spectacular company with a lot of heart. They'll get the job done, and make it right, come what may! If that isn't worth your business, I don't know what else is. I cannot think of another company I would trust more with a move. I give them my highest recommendation. Thanks Eko Movers!
On April 5, 2017, I reached out on Thumbtack to find a landscaper for our property. We had moved into a new home in January, and just had the standard “builder” type landscaping which we did not like. Within minutes of posting I was contacted by City Pro Services Ltd and we soon began chatting back and forth. City Pro Services is a family-owned business, with the entire family taking part in getting the job done. Andy and Julie set up a time to come and look at our property to see what we had, listened to what we saw as our vision, and made numerous recommendations as to what could work for us. As we worked out a plan they came and met with us a second time to offer more suggestions, and explained how everything would be done. Andy made sure that the plants we wanted would be appropriate for the areas we were going to landscape (sun vs. shade plants). By mid-May we finally settled on a workable plan along with pricing. These are some of the things they did for us: 1) Installation of new shrubs and perennials in front bed. 2) Installation of topsoil, river rocks, and mulch in front bed areas with 25-year weed barrier fabric. 3) New beds by the mailbox area and on other side of driveway, with topsoil, and river rocks splashing in some small perennials to accent. 4) Created a flower bed down the side of the house with hydrangeas, topsoil, and mulch. 5) Planted 4 trees. 6) Created a flower bed in back yard corner with some perennials. 7) Transplant existing plants from the front yard bed to the shed area. 8) Installed topsoil around shed for plants. 9) Installed mulch around shed areas. 10) Installed annuals in all beds on the entire property. 11) Installed river rock and ornamental grass around the outside air-conditioning unit. 12) Installed river rock drainage for the downspouts instead of concrete drains. 13) Installed small river rock for path going from back patio to shed entrance – included river rock and 25 year week barrier fabric. 14) Prepped lot for sod by tilling, cutting, and grading, as well as installing 28 yards of top soil. 15) We purchased sod for side yard areas, and they provided labor for installation. Also 25lbs of starter fertilizer for pre-sodding. It did take them a while to get us on the schedule, but that was only due to the weather and the fact that they had multiple other jobs going on. Once they started the job they often came in full-force with everyone in the family working hard to get the job done. I will tell you that with the bad soil that we have (very hard clay), they often had to work extra hard to accomplished with would have otherwise been fairly simple. Digging the holes for the 4 trees they planted was not an easy task! Because of our bad soil, Andy did everything he could to set us up for success with everything he planted. He created raised beds with prime topsoil, and used weed barrier fabric to help keep the weeds down. When we purchased our new home, we purchased the empty lot next to us which had not been developed. We had them prep and lay the sod on that lot. Again, with the soil being so bad, and full of rocks, Andy recommended that they prep the lot and cover it with quality top soil prior to laying the sod. It was a lot of hard work for them, but, again, they wanted to make sure that we were set up for success. It was a very large area, but they did a great job and it made everything look amazing. Our main requests upon first discussion, was telling them that we loved color and wanted low maintenance. Not only did City Pro Services “meet” our desires, but they “far exceeded” our expectations. Andy was responsive to our every need, was willing to make changes or additions without question, and made sure to educate us along the way as to what needed to be done to make sure that we are able to easily maintain everything they had done. One thing that I really appreciated about Andy, was that he would personally pick out the very best plants that he could. This was especially evident with the hydrangeas that he selected for the side of the house. They are “show stoppers” to be sure! Would I hire them again? You bet I would!! I’m sure that I will be calling them throughout the coming years to just do some maintenance and cleanup of whatever needs to be done for the next season. I'm really happy I worked with Clark and Sons Moving! Moving in the winter is already hard enough - moving the day after the city gets hit with an ice storm is downright terrifying. There was constant communication between Clark and myself, even though he happened to be out of town. He was flexible and accommodating and we changed the time last minute to account for the ice. His men arrived promptly at the new agreed upon time. They didn't bat an eye over the metal slippery stairs or the slush everywhere. Overall, they were extremely polite, hard-working and went to extra lengths to ensure all of our belongings were handled well and the move proceeded as smoothly and quickly as possible. The price was very reasonable and I was so grateful to have hired them. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend DSL for any move! I don't remember ever working with anyone more agreeable and accommodating than Fredrick. At the last minute I had to change my move from a Friday to Saturday... moving out of state. Somehow, Fredrick made it happen while offering me polite assurances that he would take care of everything... very calming in a stressful time. The three young men taking care of the move were very professional on an extremely hot day... they worked their tails off in really unbearable heat. All my possessions arrived safely and on time. You cannot go wrong with DSL!!
Had a pool table moved to my house. Movers were very friendly and knowledgeable. Had a issue with a cracked pc of slate but they were able to fix it and it turned out great!

These movers were very affordable and the gentleman that did the actual move were professional and very good! The only reason I didn’t give a five star rating was they didn’t send a big enough truck and then tried to charge us extra gas and mileage for having to make a second trip. In the end, they did right by us and waived the extra cost due to their error with the truck size. I did find it unprofessional that the owner stated more than once that she lost money on our move, which was not our fault. They are a new, family owned company and I’m confident that they will learn from this job and send trucks that are larger than what they anticipate needing in the future. All in all, we were very pleased with this company, especially with the gentleman who did the moving of our furniture and boxes. Great job!

My fiance and I are hardworkers who like to get the job right the first time. We can do lawn care and interior and exterior painting. We both can pull and lay carpets. I do housecleaning, and my honey does roofing. We used to work for a company called D&R Roofing, but we had to leave their business due to lack of pay. We can also do moving. We don't mind helping to pack boxes and loading them; whatever makes you comfortable is fine for us. We are reliable workers and do not expect pay upfront. If the employer is comfortable with the idea of half the final amount in advance for the job at the beginning and the rest at the end of a job, that would be great but not a must. If anyone is interested in us working, we live in the Richmond Area, and we do have transportation.
