It ended up being a larger than expected repair. He had to replace the electronic board. After finding it, he said that he would pick it up in the morning and because he had an appointment in the morning he would be here at 12:00 or 12:30. He called at a little after 12:00 and said he was on his way. Since the repair, the furnace has been running perfectly.

Always extremely happy with their customer service. I have used Sal's twice and have referred to friends. Thought I needed a new furnace (my furnace is pretty old) but was informed that it was just a part and that my old furnace still had some life left... Very honest!!! 5 Stars!!

I can't say enough good things about All in Mechanical! I manage 85 rental units throughout NE Ohio and All in Mechanical is always my go to. They have great communication, competitive pricing, and go above and beyond. They've done hot water tank replacements/repairs, furnace replacement/repairs, and an oven repair. I don't normally write reviews, but they definitely deserve one!

Tom installed a new furnace for me. He ran into a small problem with a part that had been made wrong so he took the time to show me the problem and then came back on another day and fixed it. He's #1 in my book and I would call on him to do any job with the confidence that he will do it right and at a reasonable price. I think he went above and beyond. He did an excellent job in a timely manner.

Eric was honestly the best thing that could've happened to our family and house. I am 7 months pregnant with a 15 month old and two dogs and Eric saved the day. He was responsive, professional, nice, and did the job all by himself. Eric got our new furnace and AC unit installed in one day... all by himself. He was impressive to say the least. He came to do an estimate Sunday and installed today and our house is already 6 degrees cooler!! I honestly cannot recommend him any higher. Thanks for everything, Eric! Go Shoreman ;)

He did a great job repairing my electrical lines coming into my house. The city wouldn't allow me to turn on my power until it was all fixed and it was great. One inspection after he was done and I had power the next day. He was very well mannered and very willing to work with my schedule in order to get what needed to be done in a timely manner. I loved having him work for me and would use him again if the need arose.

We are a small, family-owned and -operated company, so we have low overhead costs and pass the savings on to you. Customer service and satisfaction are our top priority, along with safety. I have been in this business for 25 years. I have many happy customers. So, if you want references, I have plenty. You can also Google DL Heating and Cooling and in Supermedia, and you will find my ad and see the good reviews that have been written by a few of my customers. Ask us about a high-efficiency furnace and/or air conditioning unit. We also give special pricing on a new furnace and air package. That is extra savings that puts money in your pocket, above and beyond the government tax credit of up to $1500. We also clean and check your AC unit and/or furnace. It takes about 2 hours, but it's very necessary to do to keep your unit running efficiently. We use concoil acid mixture that really gets your air conditioner nice and clean. On your furnace, we take it apart and clean everything, from the burners and circuitry to the heat exchanger. A good thorough clean and check helps prevent breakdowns and keeps your utility bills lower. This is an extremely important yearly routine for your health, safety, and investment in your home. We also do hot water tanks, leaking gas lines, main drain snaking, chimney liners, and all your plumbing needs. - We offer same-day service on repairs and cleanings. We also work evenings, weekends, and holidays at no extra charge. - We also have 24 hour emergency service that is also no extra charge. - We offer warranties on all our work. - We offer free estimates on new installations. - We offer preventative maintenance packages. - All our work is completed to code in a professional, safe, and efficient manner. - We are willing to work with you on our prices. The service charge, unfortunately, is necessary, but we will come to your home and find out what the problem is. We like to show and explain what's wrong. We then give you a bid. If you don't give me the job (which 99.9% of my customers do), you will know exactly what's wrong, so you can shop around, but I have every confidence that you'll love my price. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    Who fixes furnaces?

If your furnace needs to be repaired, you’ll want to find a qualified heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) repair technician. Each state has its own licensing requirements; some require all HVAC technicians to have an HVAC license, while others only require someone operating an HVAC service and installation company with employees to hold a contractor’s license. For example, in Alabama, the Alabama Board of Heating Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors regulates licensing, while in Kansas there is no state regulatory body and HVAC licensing can vary by region. For simple furnace repairs like changing out a filter, a trusted handyman can probably handle the job, but a trained professional should be hired for tasks like replacing a gas valve, installing a new inducer fan motor or other critical furnace repair jobs that involve dealing with gas leaks or other dangerous conditions. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much will it cost me to replace my furnace?

The national average for furnace replacement is between $1,800 and $2,500. The cost can range dramatically higher depending on the model of furnace you select, any repair work you require, your location and the cost of installation. Furnace installation costs can be more than the furnace itself due to the cost of doing business and the expertise needed to install the HVAC equipment. Installing a new furnace generally requires technical know-how and the proper tools and licensing. It’s best to hire a pro and budget for furnace installation rather than risk potentially unsafe DIY installation. This will ensure your home’s safety. Check to see if your HVAC contractor has the proper licensing to do the job. If you need duct repair or replacement, expect to pay more for your furnace installation costs. The price for duct repair could be an hourly rate ranging on average anywhere from $85 to $150 per hour, with additional costs for parts.

How much does it cost to have your furnace cleaned?

To keep your furnace in good working order it’s important to have it regularly cleaned. The national average furnace cleaning cost ranges from $60 to $80, though prices can vary greatly based on where you live in the country and what your furnace maintenance includes. An HVAC company may have different rates for different levels of furnace maintenance. For example, one company may offer general furnace maintenance for $79 and advanced maintenance for $138. Another company may offer a 38-point maintenance check for $89 and a 64-point maintenance check for $178. According to Energy.gov, a standard furnace cleaning and maintenance visit can include:

    • Checking the vent connection pipe and chimney
    • Checking the physical integrity of the heat exchanger
    • Adjusting the controls to provide optimum air temperatures
    • Checking the combustion chamber for cracks
    • Testing for carbon monoxide (CO)
    • Adjusting the blower control and supply-air temperature
    • Cleaning and oiling the blower
    • Removing soot and corrosion from the furnace
    • Checking the fuel input and flame characteristics
    • Sealing the connections between the furnace and the main ducts

How much does it cost to replace a gas furnace?

The cost to replace your gas furnace will vary based on the type and size of furnace you select, labor and installation costs, and any repairs your HVAC system may need. Nationally, average HVAC prices for a heating specialist range between $1,800 and $2,500. It’s important to select the right size gas furnace for your heating needs. A furnace that’s too small won’t heat your house properly, while a furnace that’s too large will run inefficiently, cycling on and off and likely breaking down sooner. HVAC specialists calculate your exact heat needs by measuring your home and incorporating variables such as the regional climate and your home’s level of insulation. Retail pricing for gas furnaces can range from $650 up to $3,000 and more. The higher the AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency) rating of the furnace, the more efficient it is at turning fuel into heat and the lower your carbon footprint and utility bill will be. HVAC installation costs are often based on an hourly rate and can range from under $50 to over $100 per hour, depending on the company and the furnace being installed. Higher-end furnaces cost more to install because they require added labor and expertise. For a typical installation, it might take two HVAC installation pros one day or less to remove your old furnace and replace it with a new one.

How much does it cost to have your furnace serviced?

When your furnace isn’t regularly serviced it can operate less efficiently. This increases your energy bills and also prevents your furnace from keeping your home as warm as you like. Keep your furnace properly maintained with regular service. The national average furnace service cost is between $60 and $80. Companies may offer tuneup specials that cover all the necessary testing, tightening, measuring and cleaning to keep your equipment running at top efficiency. If you have a newer system, furnace service costs may be covered by your warranty. Outside of warranty, a basic tuneup might start at $58 and a more advanced maintenance cleaning could be over $120. Here are some signs your furnace may need service:

    • The furnace has stopped functioning entirely.
    • The temperature cannot be regulated.
    • Rooms in the home are either too hot or too cold.
    • The heated air coming from the furnace smells like gas.
    • The thermostat isn’t working.
    • Strange noises are coming from the furnace.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
