Love my new fence and my little dog could not be happier! The price and quality was fantastic. I got a few quotes for a fence last year and they were 3 times the cost I paid with Brutusdawg. Plus he responds very quickly to emails, text, and calls. I would totally recommend them to anyone looking for a fence. My neighbor is planning to use them as well. I had him remove a piece of privacy fence, fix the gate in my front yard, and build the fence in my backyard. The crew was also very nice and polite especially Cliff and Moe. It is great not having to worry about my dogs safety while enjoying the backyard- wish I could add her pic playing ball in her fence. Thanks Brutusdawg and team!

Paragon did an outstanding job for me. We had them fence in our entire backyard and we love it! They were very competitive on the price and I couldn't believe the quality of the material, it was commercial grade, definitely not something you could buy at Home Depot and do yourself. The guys who did the work were super nice and even removed an old DirecTV dish pole for me while they had their equipment out. Highly recommend!

Naaman came to my house and took the time to go over the estimate and explain the process. We have 5 dogs, so time was definitely a factor. We were told it would be about a week before they would begin and we were fine with that time frame. Two days later, we came home to a crew of men dismantling our fence. We were so excited that the process began sooner than expected. The crew hauled away all of the fencing well after 6 PM and came back to begin post holes! My husband and I were so impressed by the work ethic these gentlemen displayed. We had a few change orders along the way and that process went smoothly as well. Naaman was always responsive and provided written estimates to reflect the changes. The work was completed in an exceptionally timely manner and the crew was professional and friendly. They did not leave my yard a mess and cleaned up daily. I have already received so many compliments on the fence and have had people knock on my door asking for the name of the company that did the work. We are happy. Our dogs are happy. I would highly recommend this company and would use them again!

After talking to at least five different fence installers, Daniel from Expert Fence was the most prompt, honest, and trustworthy person who also offered the best price out of all other companies. Daniel is extremely easy to contact and works with you to make sure you get what you want done, the right way. He was also the fastest at coming to my house to give me an estimate, and offered the best estimate I had received. He listens to exactly what your needs are, and makes sure that you are happy with the end product. He handled all permits and HOA fees, while other competitor companies told me that they would not handle that part. His crew showed up in the morning ready to work, and had my fence done in one day. He then reached out to let me know that if there are any issues whatsoever in the future, to let him know and they would make it right. It is also worth noting that the warranties are much better than all other companies that I talked to. I would recommend Expert Fence LLC to all of my friends, neighbors, and family.

Multi-phased two story project involving demo/repair/replace/paint. Replaced deteriorated siding; rebuilt main entry/porch/cupola; replaced planking as necessary on large deck area; add trim to house/deck juncture. Paint everything (2 tones) including: 2 outbuildings; lattice deck skirting; 2 frontage fence sections; sand and paint new steel vehicle gate to match. Paul, Doug and Bill were friendly and accomodating and worked diligently and as quickly as weather allowed. (Summer 2018 is one for the books for rain and heat.) They sweltered through the heat; but couldn't do anything about painting in the rain. Paid final invoice on final day with promise to return if necessary for satisfaction. Sure enough as we began replacing deck/entry decorations over the next few days we found a couple of small "misses". Txtd Paul with photos and he was here THE NEXT MORNING to complete. Value? See above. Cost? Very reasonable, considering the various skills and equipment and materials needed. Would we hire again...yes.

Jarrod installed a vinyl fence. We are very pleased with him and his work. He is a very nice and reliable man. He went the extra mile and added some vinyl under a few gaps in the fence where the ground was not level so the dogs couldn't sneak out. It looks fantastic and we plan to hire him when we are ready to install ceiling fans.

After multiple estimates I found the best fence installer in town! Brandon Howe is the Contractors Contractor. Best price and materials on my whole back yard fence. He worked in inclement weather conditions. Completed the job in a very timely manner. He also takes credit card payment and stands by his work. I recommend Flawless Fencing and Repair to anyone needing a fence. You maybe disappointed if you contract with anyone else.

He kept me up to date with his arrival time, and I couldn’t ask for a better value. We will be calling Moe when it’s time for renovations!

We contracted Martin N Jones to put in a 4ft wood fence at our home. The finished product looks wonderful! We plan to stain the fence in the spring but it looks great as is. We have a zero turn mower and were concerned with some of the spacing to get the mower around the shed, in the gates, etc. and Martin N Jones made sure the spacing was exactly what we wanted. They are very competitively priced and I can almost guarantee they would beat the pricing of going to Lowe's or Home Depot ( we obtained quotes from both places). We did have some very minor hiccups during the process but nothing to deter our faith in the finished product. They were upfront in saying that, although they've had years of experience with installing fences, this is their first solo endeavor as an LLC and they were working out their overall business model. I think that as they acquire more jobs these guys will have their business end perfected! Overall, we were glad to have worked Martin N Jones and are extremely happy with the finished product and pricing!

Gary & Larry with GM Home Service were contracted to install a 650 ft split rail perimeter fence. The installation was professional, timely, and the invoice was right on budget. I am happy I found them - they are hard-working, competent contractors. Based on the great job they did, I have them scheduled to do more work for me this spring.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

    • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
    • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
    • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
    • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
    • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
    • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

    • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
    • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
    • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
    • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
    • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
    • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
    • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
    • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
