"We really enjoyed our wedding reception! Sal did a great job with making sure he knew our schedule and how to pronounce everyone's names. He also played our cocktail/dinner playlist and that was really important to us! He brought us free up-lighting and it made the space look BEAUTIFUL! Seriously, so so gorgeous! I loved everything about the decor! And I was very worried about it!
The only major negative thing was that the mic was super super difficult to hear. At the head table, we could barely hear the father of the bride's toast. :( So much so that my husband and I kept looking at each other saying "what did he say???" And I worry that we could only hear the best man and and maid of honor's speeches because we were sitting right next to them as they were speaking! And we also had numerous guests tell us afterwards they had no idea we were even doing the dollar dance, so it barely had any turn out and very few people came up to the front to dance with us… I think that maybe the problem was with the speakers, not the mic specifically, because it was such a large space. I'm not sure and I'm a little disappointed. :( This was also a problem for the bouquet and garter toss too…
Additionally, I think one specific person requested a bunch of songs towards the beginning of the night (70s-80s classic rock) and Sal played them all, even though they didn't really fit the rest of the guests' interests. I barely noticed, because I wasn't on the dance floor very much until the end of the night when those songs were over. I wouldn't have noticed, like I said, except for a handful of guests my age brought it up skeptically after the wedding. And that disappointed me a little bit because I wanted them to be having a great time too.
Lastly, I know that Sal and I talked about going with the flow of the party instead of getting hung up on my initial proposed timeline - but because he didn't stick with it, the reception passed by SO QUICKLY and I basically had no idea that it was almost over until the photographer and videographer came up to me at 10 pm and said they were leaving in half an hour (the reception went until 11 pm, however), and if we were going to do the garter/bouquet/anniversary/dollar dance it would need to be ASAP. I just wish he would have stuck to my initial schedule a little better because then I would have been going back to the dance floor approximately every hour for those things, and maybe it would have broken it up a bit more. I really really have mixed feelings about the structure/timeline of the wedding reception. And I'm hoping that when we get back our photos and videos, we actually were on the dance floor longer than I worry we were (the last 30 minutes). And we also didn't get to do the anniversary dance which was really upsetting to me! I love that tradition!"
