Latest Review: I booked Green Maids to come out to my 1000 square foot townhouse on a Friday afternoon while we were at work for a spring cleaning. For this reason, I paid extra for the deep clean, including adding on oven cleaning and wall spot-cleaning. I had never hired a cleaning service before, but thought it was necessary this year because we are working so much. GreenMaids is a locally owned company with two staff members. I was looking forward to it SO MUCH, and was so excited to arrive home Friday evening. As I walked in the door, I could see that some tasks were done immaculately well. For example, the kitchen floor was shining, the scuff marks on the wall had disappeared, and the upstairs bathroom had not a single trace of soap scum. Beautiful!
But the more I looked around the house, the more I could see that some items were either done with half-attempt or not done at all! For example, there was dust and cobwebs behind the downstairs toilet, indicating that the floor was only swept and mopped where the floor was easily accessible. There were still spots on the downstairs bathroom mirror and did not appear to have been wiped down at all. The counter tops looked clean, but when I moved the appliances, I could see dust and crumbs, meaning they only wiped what was visible. I entered the living room and found that nothing was dusted, the sliding glass door was not wiped down, and the carpet was not vacuumed. It looked as if they didn’t even step foot in the living room at all. The second floor was vacuumed and the beds were made, but no dusting or wiping of surfaces was done. And though the upstairs bathroom was mostly clean, the eye level shelf was dusted, while the one just above eye level right next to it was not. Truly, it seemed like the two cleaners didn’t follow the checklist that the company provides the customer, and they did a very quick, surface-level cleaning of what they thought I would be able to see/check for. I was so disappointed. I felt as if I had wasted $180 dollars ($140 for the clean, and $20 tip for each cleaner) for nothing.
Thankfully, Melissa, the owner, was responsive and wanted to make it better. She listened to my thoughts and saw the pictures I had taken. She offered to personally come out to my home (on a Saturday, no less) and re-clean. She did a phenomenal job! Everything was gorgeous, even the smallest details. It was exactly the way that I had wanted it when I booked the spring cleaning. It is unfortunate that the original cleaning was disappointing, but Melissa made it right. To me, that is the sign of a great business person. I can’t expect her to be able to ensure that every employee will do a great job every single time, but she really came through with making the whole situation better.
I am under the impression that the two cleaners who cleaned my home are currently the only employees of the company. So, while I am hesitant to book another appointment until the team is expanded, I can at least say that should something go awry, Melissa will personally ensure the job is done correctly.
