Sandy and her crew did a beautiful cleaning for me including dusting, vacuuming, washing kitchen and bathroom floors, and cleaning glass curios and glass TV stand and windows. She is professional, timely and a very nice person. She was able to schedule me quickly. I would definitely recommend her to anyone and will be calling her again for me.

Adam and his team did a great job cleaning our whole house. We had them clean and deodorize all our crapets, clean the dryer vents, clean the grout in the kitchen and all the bathrooms and also clean the wooden floor and finish it. They were able to do all of these in one go and were very professional. We will definitely hire them again.

Mr. Kruse did a great job cleaning the carpeted steps in our rental property. He also steam cleaned the grout around the tub in the main bathroom. Very satisfied with his results. The cost was reasonable. He was very professional. I especially liked that we were supporting a small locally-owned business. We will call on him in the future.

So happy with Deanna's cleaning! She came on short notice while I was moving out of a house. She cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms. She also vacuumed and mopped all the flooring in the house. The house looks and smells fantastic and I feel good about the condition for the next owners. Deanna is also very pleasant and easy to work with. Thanks Deanna!

Bridget has completed a few projects for us and we are very impressed with her artistic eye, her knack for helping us get rid of clutter in our kitchen and bathroom closets, and the speed of how quickly she has finished the jobs. She also painted our hallway and created a cozy sitting area at the top of our stairway with items we already had in our house!! We told her what we wanted and she offered alternate suggestions which we liked better than our original ideas. Bridget reorganized our kitchen cabinets and the bathroom closets in an afternoon. The hallway was also completed in a few hours. We look forward to hiring Bridget again as we dream about getting others areas in our house organized. Bridget is a hard working person and we are very pleased with her work, and her reasonable prices!

Very efficient, dependable, on time and well done. Cleaning bathroom, washing down walls, mopping, vacuuming, where to call to reschedule in case an emergency may occur, left info on the services she preformed and to inform her if nothing was up to my expectations & standards.

Dave came several times. The first time he fixed the wiring on a whirlpool tub and got it working again. The second time he installed a ceiling fan/light in our kitchen. The third time he caulked/grouted in our bathrooms. Did a great job on all three tasks and came within a few days for all.

John was absolutely fantastic! He was on time each day, he was neat and was extremely professional. I had my bathroom floor replaced, new vanities installed and a new toilet installed. He completed this job in 4.5 days. I trusted him in our home to work on his own and I cannot give him a high enough recommendation. Hire him! Debi B., Livonia

Cheryl Cheatham has been cleaning my home in West Toledo for over 20 years. She has always done a great job and arrives on schedule. Cheryl pays attention to detail and will take her time on areas that need extra cleaning (especially in the bathrooms). I've always been impressed with Cheryl's quality of work and would recommend her services without hesitation.

He has cleaned and restored our tiles in the bathroom and shower. He has also steam cleaned our carpets and our furniture. We hired Maria to do basic cleaning around the house for 3 hours every two weeks starting in the summer of 2014. She still currently works for us. She arrives after 5pm, as we both worked nights at the time. I was given her number by a co-worker, who says she met thru Maria's work at a school...so we already knew that she had passed a background check. Her duties include sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, cleaning the bathroom, kitchen, living room, dining room, and bedroom. I ask specifically that she move the couches to sweep every time, which she does. There is no heavy lifting, as the couches just slide. I do not ask her to move appliances in the kitchen. Once I left a list, with things that included baseboards, cleaning rear windows, detailing a globe, etc. I expected it would take her a few different visits, but she had it all done in one visit! And it was done well!! She always shows when expected, and once when she was sick, she called to say she will still come, but wanted to let us know she was sick in case we didn't want her there. We did still want her, and she came with no problems. We gave her a house key, and she lets herself in. We also have dogs that she will let out when they cry to go potty, not her job but she makes sure that they are happy...which makes me very happy! She has regularly polished a table that now shines like never before, and she is very flexible in hours. Once I needed the curio cabinet detailed, and she did it on a day she is usually not here. The only negative is something kinda beyond her control...we work nights have most windows blacked out, and it is very very dark in the house, so sometimes I see streaks on the fridge and stuff. But it's so dark, I don't blame her...and it means she cleaned the fridge:) She is definitely above average

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

    • Old standard or electric toothbrush
    • Stiff bristle brush
    • Spray bottle
    • White vinegar
    • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
