"My massage with Suzanne was phenomenal. She was very professional and knowledgeable about her craft. The room was pleasant and relaxing. Getting a massage is an intimate thing, but Suzanne's relaxed nature put me immediately at ease. Her hands are magic! You will be so happy you booked her!"

"Michelle Labosky provided the most effective, relaxing massage that I have yet experienced! I chose Michelle when I saw her background in sports science and exercise physiology. It's difficult to find a therapist who can provide a true sports massage, because it requires a more technical knowledge of muscle anatomy. I do a variety of workouts, which cause me muscle pain and knots. Michelle provided an individualized massage, which not only provided immediate relief, but ongoing relief of muscle tension. Several days after my massage, I am still feeling its benefits! Michelle was also very professional and I felt entirely comfortable during my massage. Highly recommend!!"

"Tori Crews is an amazing person inside and out! She's very professional and great at what she does, she's very polite and flexible and will go out her way to accommodate any way she can. During my pregnancy I was still fortunate to still receive massages. She made it so comfortable and relaxing and catered to whatever I needed at that time. Whether it was me running a few minutes behind, or her extra care through pillows placed on my back or side during the massage, to the peaceful music playing in the background. I've been going to her now for over a year now and she will always be the one I look to whenever I need massages done, or even words of encouragement! Great person wonderful friend! I recommend her anytime and any day of the year!"

"Kimberly is an amazing person and a true blessing! I met her about 6 months ago for massage due to a back injury. She was the 1st professional that I came upon that truly took the time to try to understand the root of the back pain. She truly wanted to help and ease my discomfort. She is currently working very deep on me to break up all the knots in my poor body. I am feeling better, which proves that she knows what she's talking about. During this time, we have gotten to know each other, although I felt an instant connection the first time we met. This has led to some life coaching work with her to heal not only my body, but my heart and soul as well. I have referred Kimberly to friends and family and will continue doing so! She's a gem!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
