NOT EXCELLECT as the title states (I can't change the title)!!!
Innovative Designs, LLC was hired to paint the entire inside of the house including ceilings, walls and trim as well as all of the wood work on the exterior of the house. I also paid for a plumber to fix a toilet, moving crew to bring furniture down from the attic, and handy man to hang drapery, rehang light fixtures and electrical switch covers. I paid extra for kitchen cabinet refinishing, metal trim painting and staging (to include vacuuming area rugs and polishing furniture brought down from the attic).
The actual spray painting was good, the trim painting was good BUT VERY very sloppy, there were hundreds of paint drips on the hardwood and vinyl floors, fireplace hearths, kitchen counters, stairs and everywhere outside. This required a lot of paint clean up EVERYWHERE.
The windows were painted SHUT!! The plumber ruined the toilet bowl, though Chris replaced it when I complained. Cabinet refinishing "over site" left some unpainted areas. Some exterior areas were clearly not scraped or sanded, just painted over...lumpy and bumpy.
Caution: GET every little detail in writing, your understanding of "professional painting" work and their understanding of what they actually do may be two different things. I paid extra for some rusty metal trim to be professionally taken care of but the rust was showing through 3 days after painting, ...apparently the quote did not include sanding any of the rust on the trim prior to painting, they just spray painted the trim. They said they could do it, never told me it couldn't be done properly, my expectation was that it would be done, completely and professionally.
I purchased all of the paint for the job based on their recommendation of quantities but WATCH for additional costs - I ended up with a bill of over $200 for "more" paint, which was a surprise, particularly since they never even asked or mentioned the need for more paint during the job - just told me about the extra costs at the END of the job.
ALSO, the job took longer than agreed and PAST the due date which caused me additional delays.
Chris is a nice person, most of his workers were pleasant and hard working as well, but if you hire them, make sure they don't smoke anywhere NEAR the property if you want a smoke free home, mine still smells like cigarette smoke, though I they swear they did not smoke IN the house.
Chris was accommodating with the quotes and requests when discussing the job and sub-contractor tasks, but was VERY defensive when the job was "finished" and after the final walk through, when I attempted to discuss the list of problems (above) with him.
HE DID fix almost everything the day after we talked when I sent him a detailed list with photos. Since I didn't want to keep delaying the job even longer until every little detail was addressed, and didn't want to argue with him again, I determined that the job he completed was "good enough", and I decided to pay him and be done once and for all. AND... I then hired someone to finish with the clean up details that I feel he should have taken care of.
His crew were in the vacant house for a couple of weeks. Before they arrived, the sinks, kitchen and bathrooms were spotless...I scrubbed and cleaned everything including the floors on my hands and knees. When the painting job was finished, all of the sinks in the house were left in a mess, the restrooms were a mess, there was urine in and around the toilet..and yet he said "you didn't pay me to clean your house"...no, ....but I did expect him or his workers to clean up after themselves. If you have this expectation, be sure to put it in writing.
My Realtor and family were initially impressed with the work as was I when checking on the progress...but the unprofessional way the "problems" were handled, with much defensive arguing made me uncomfortable and I won't re-hire Chris or refer him or his company.
