Did a great job with moving a household and storage unit. They sent extra people to help at no additional charge. They had one flat rate for the first 3 hours and then extra for each additional hour. The entire job took about 8 hours, but they did not complain one bit.

On a terribly hot and humid day, Gary and his team did an outstanding job in a professional and timely manner. After hours of moving, at the end he still came into our new home and said, "Would you like to walk through each room and make sure everything ended up in the right spot?" So we did...and I asked him to help me rearrange a couple of the bigger pieces. Great guys, great job.

I can’t say enough about theae guys. I reached out late on a Saturday Night not expecting to get a response… Not only did I get a response and a great rate but these guys showed up Sunday morning before the scheduled time! No question I will use these guys again and recommend them to my friends! I would give them six stars if I could…

Vigma Enterprises served as movers for my family. It was not a usual, moving from Point A to Pont B move. Rather, my mother had passed away last month, October, 2016. She had lived in an independent living facility and we had until the end of the month to empty her apartment. The end of October came and went and I still didn't have things emptied, cleaned or plans made to dispose of anything. In the middle of November, after I'd had to pay another month's rent, I started searching for mover's to help me. Most wanted to charge by the hour, or even scarier, by the mile. See, since this was intended to disperse estate furniture, it would require packing the furniture in Beavercreek OH, delivering 3 pieces to Urbana OH, 5 pieces to Springfield OH, all but one back to a different location in Beavercreek OH and 1 last piece to Franklin OH. Mamus from Vigma agreed to do it for a flat rate, even after I tried to talk him out of it! Said he wanted to help because I'd lost my mother. The two young men from Vigma worked without stopping, taking care with the furniture when wrapping, handling and transporting. This move did in fact end up taking hours and their pleasant attitude never slipped. They treated each member of my family they met with respect. I realize I'm babbling but we just finished the move tonight and I'm so pleased, it went SO well that I can't say enough. Mamus, you should be proud of your employees. Potential customers? Don't hesitate-this is a great small business that deserves the opportunity for your attention.

Our move was completed on Friday, and we couldn’t have been happier with our moving crew! Brandon, Dillon, and Curtis were courteous, respectful of our belongings and of us, hardworking and conscientious. We have a lot of antiques and old pieces that are family treasures even if not valuable to anyone else. They understood that, and took the time and effort needed to wrap each piece and move them carefully. We didn’t have one mishap. They worked so hard, for a very long day, but at the end, it was finished and our new place looked like home! Yes, it took longer than expected, but far better to invest in the extra time to have it done right than to be sorry. We were glad to pay for the extra time they needed to take the extra care. (There were no surprises, they communicated each step of the way, and asked permission to extend the time). There was never any slacking or slowing down….. they moved at a steady pace and certainly earned their pay during their 10+ hour day! They were “invested” in the move, interested in the placement of furniture and doing what we wanted done. We were also so impressed with the respect with which they treated each other. Even when they had differences of opinion on the best way to accomplish moving a certain item, they were courteous and respectful of each other’s ideas. Even at the end of a long day, they were still speaking very kindly and respectfully to each other. They were a pleasure to have in our home. They kept us informed each step of the way, and conferred with us any time there was something they needed clarified. I just can’t emphasize enough how wonderful they were. We recommend Economy, and especially that crew, to anyone looking for a quality moving job. This moving team took so much stress out of the day for us! They are a winning team!

Fred the owner was very responsive during scheduling and in the final payment process. He stopped by to check on things during unloading and was very professional and courteous. The crew was very professional mannered and worked hard and diligently on an extremely humid day moving from a three story to a three story. The work took longer than I expected. The crew did not use any kind of straps or other techniques that I thought might have sped things up, but I am not a mover so can't say for sure. During unloading, the guys were so sweaty and we're smearing sweat and dirt on things, and actually carried our couch cushions in under their sweaty arms. Hiwever, the move went smoothly and nothing was damaged, so overall I was very satisfied.

The guys arrived a little later than expected but did fantastic work. They were friendly and respectful of my possessions and made sure to not scratch up anything and not one thing was broken or damaged. However, I was severely underquoted on my rate, but Brian was extremely helpful and friendly when I expressed my frustration about the quote and refunded me $100 to make the price closer to the quote I had received. I would recommend them but be sure to get an accurate quote first! :)

They were 4 hours later than what I was told. They did try to keep me informed that they were running behind on another move. When they arrived he had brought 2 extra people due to running behind. My move would have been finished in the 2 hour window, but the guys would stop and talk. I even helped move some of the stuff. So i was going to be charged for the 2 hour rate plus the hourly rate because it was 15 minutes after 2 hours. He ended up only charging the 2 hour price. I feel that was fair because of how late it was. It made me uncomfortable to be asked for a tip, but i gave him the rest of the cash that i had. He was not happy because it wasn't much for 4 men.

There is so much I can say about this company, so I will start off with "Thank you for making my BIG move even possible!" Working with Krystal and the moving crew was such a delightful experience! If I had a question, it was answered almost immediately, and no hidden "extra" costs that I have found in the past other moving companies! All my items were so carefully wrapped and packed, I was extremely impressed that nothing was broke, or misplaced, or any other thing that can go wrong when taking a chance on a moving company! And during the actual move, all my items where in order and best of all on time! With such a busy life schedule, kids, job... this was the best and most smart move on my part! And if I ever move again I will be calling this company! I would definitely rate this company with a 5 thumbs up! Thank you to all the crew members and especially Krystal for making my move possible! I couldn't have done it with out you... Thanks again!

These movers were very affordable and the gentleman that did the actual move were professional and very good! The only reason I didn’t give a five star rating was they didn’t send a big enough truck and then tried to charge us extra gas and mileage for having to make a second trip. In the end, they did right by us and waived the extra cost due to their error with the truck size. I did find it unprofessional that the owner stated more than once that she lost money on our move, which was not our fault. They are a new, family owned company and I’m confident that they will learn from this job and send trucks that are larger than what they anticipate needing in the future. All in all, we were very pleased with this company, especially with the gentleman who did the moving of our furniture and boxes. Great job!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

    • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
    • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
    • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
    • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
    • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
