Jason was quick to respond to my project on Thumbtack. He power washed my back patio, driveway, sidewalks, garage and shed, and also painted a large awning on the front of my house. He came out and gave me a quote the next day, and completed the project within a week of the given quote. He took time to explain to me everything he would be doing and ensure that I did not have any further questions. He was punctual, professional, and gave me an excellent price for all of the work he did. In fact, the neighbor across the street already plans to use him to paint his awning as well. I look forward to using Hensley's Handyman Service again in the future!

I could not recommend R&D enough to anyone for their interior painting needs. The quality of work is top notch. Tim and April were FANTASTIC to work with and actually a joy to have in my home. They painted about half my house, and just did an amazing job. Really took their time, and the quality of each room really shows. Don't hesitate to hire them for your painting needs, you won't regret it!

Ken was wonderful in his skills for furniture assembly. He saved me a bunch of headache by putting together 1 large TV stand that holds up to a 70 inch flat screen TV. He also quickly assembled 4 kitchen chairs that are really nice oak heavy wood. I sincerely appreciate his work ethic and techniques in assembling these furniture. He is also polite and respectful as well as responsive to additional requests. Highly recommend him and would hire him again to help out!

Josh designed, painted & installed wainscotting on the ceiling of two bathrooms. The quality of his miter cuts were spot on considering our home is 50 years old with uneven walls. He also painted the walls in both bathrooms. He was very friendly, timely and cleaned up after his work. We would highly recommend him and will be using him again soon for other projects.

Bob Thomas did an excellent job painting the interior of my home and I definitely would recommend using him if you’re looking for a professional painter who does a quality job quickly! Bob and Jeremiah were very responsive to any questions I had and they got my 1500 square foot interior painted in about 2 days from start to finish. My project was complete just 1 week from first contact, to meeting in person a couple days later for a quote, to painting. The bid was right in line with other bids, however the customer service was great and speaking to Bob was like talking to someone I’ve been friends with for years. Thanks Bob and Jeremiah!

I appreciated that Tonna & her helper did the job in 2 days. I was a bit disappointed that she put me off a week, and then by another day. I know they wanted to finish painting the second day; I think because she had taken on another job the next day. They worked until after 9:00 that night. However, I think they could have done more to clean up before leaving. For example, I didn’t know they had used my ladder in the great room/kitchen. They left the ladder in the room. The garage floor has paint drips & small spills. The small hallway bathroom, which was not painted, had paint in the sink bowl. Tonna did come back and do some re-touch & touch up places. I’m finding small paint drips and drops in various places. Fortunately, the paint does scrape off easily.

We hired Extravagant Painting to paint our great room walls. They did a wonderful job. They were very professional in coming and setting up as well as the clean up when they were finished. We were so pleased with their work that we had them come back to paint the outside of our house. We were just as satisfied as the first time with the job they performed. I would definitely use Extravagant Painting again in the future. Jobs well done!

We hired Mike Lewis to remodel our bathroom. First, I would like to say mike has been a God send to our family! He contacted me promptly and arrived at the scheduled time. The estimate he gave came in at lowest bid. He started on the bathroom promptly and has completed top quality work. Mike has went above and beyond what we expected. He remodeled the bathroom and did several other odd jobs for us. He is very personable and went the extra mile to make our elderly mother feel comfortable. We have other projects that mike will be doing for us. In the spring, we will also have Mike of Newlook Construction complete the interior painting of our house. We would highly recommend Newlook Construction. The Eidson Family

Mr. Webb did an amazing job! He was very professional and courteous while in my home. He arrived on time everyday and completed the job quicker than I had expected. Not only did he give me a fair price for the job, he also only charged me his cost for the paint. I have heard that other companies charge the retail price. Mr. Webb supplied all other materials at no cost to me. I would highly recommend Webb's Painting! No complaints

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

      • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
      • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
      • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
      • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
