FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We compete with most local landscape installation and lawn maintenance companies. For lawn mowing, our minimum is $35.00 and that increases if you have a larger yard or many obstacles to mow or trim around. Landscaping is a little different and can very by the hour. Labor rates are between $35-40 per man hour depending on difficulty, ease of access to work area, and what tools we need to use.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I, as well as my employees go to any classes, seminars, or educational workshops we can attend. There are great education courses at local nurseries and even at vendors we get material from. I subscribe to several different gardening and landscape magazines for ideas and new practices. Elm Creek Landscape also belongs to several different associations that provide education and training courses.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was 15, and needed a job for the summer. There was a woman at my church who did landscaping so I helped her out for one summer. I helped her the next summer, and occasionally during the school year. When I went to college, I'd work for her during Winter and Spring breaks and on weekends. So after 8 years of working for her, I realized I truly had a passion for it. She exclusively did landscape design, so I started a lawn and landscape maintenance company. It was a great way to put my Bachelors Degrees in Business and Marketing to good use! After many requests for doing landscape design and installation, I used my experience with her to help start that division of the business and do not regret it! Her and I still to this day work together on jobs and refer each other business.
