FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don't have complicated pricing, I just don't quote prices at all. Every event (just like every couple or every client) is different, and I base my fees on how long I'll be working with you, what you need me to do, and how many hours I think will be involved with making your event successful and exactly like you want it.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The only way to continue educating yourself in the 'latest and greatest' in my field is to plan more weddings with as many different couples as possible. I follow the magazines, pinterest, etc. but what I've learned is that while clients are looking at those same things, it's up to me to get creative and provide an inexpensive version of what they see online.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Like most people, I fell into it. Long story short, I worked at a bar but was a terrible bartender; because I can't stand not being good at anything I do, I went to bartending school and was subsequently hired to be a bartender at weddings, fundraisers and other special events. I worked a venue more than any other employee, and would help the planner with whatever was needed if I wasn't needed at the bar. That planner ended up hiring me as her co-planner and I fell in love with the fact that something so simple as making sure everything was in order would make their lives so much easier and less stressful.
