She is very talented and organized. She really listened to our needs and wants. We are so pleased with our living room and are planning on future projects with her. She challenged our vision of decorating and helped a new couple blend their styles to really become one.

I, a woman of a few decades, was left alone to finish the remodel of my parents home so it could be sold. There were so many tasks that were beyond my abilities and after being mislead by other "handymen", I was in a state of complete despair of being able to find someone who would show up and be able to do exactly what needed to be done. And then, I found Isaac on Thumbtack. How do I begin to sing the praises of his knowledge, his patience, his understanding of what I needed done, and his incredible skills? From having the talents to measure and cut and nail odd shaped baseboards, flooring and 1/4 rounds to perfect painting, caulking, door hanging, hauling and even mowing, no task was too small or to big. Isaac and his helper could do it all.. They are talented, precise, professional, prompt, knowledgable, skilled in a full spectrum of "handyman" know how's, patient in dealing with their client and always neat. He always asked questions when in doubt and always did exactly as asked. Call him, hire him, look no further. Nuff said?

In the beginning, I was kind of nervous about using a small local business for my wedding, it’s your big day and you don’t want anything to go wrong, but I AM SO GLAD I DID! Ms. April was so nice and accommodating, I have the tendency to ask a lot of questions, (which I did) but she answered everyone quickly with easy and a smile. You can tell she knows her stuff! They were SUPER affordable and still managed to give me the wedding of our dreams. I had nothing 8 weeks out from our wedding (no linen, no centerpieces, no flowers, no party favors) I am so grateful to have found them she helped me find a venue, photographer, DJ and decorations in a matter of a week!!!! She does these photo back drops that are absolutely gorgeous. She really took care of us and made us feel like part of their family, she even bought us a gift. The crazy thing is I have talked to other people that have hired her and she apparently does that for every one of her clients, how awesome is that! We received amazing feedback from our family and friends on how beautiful everything was, how professional they are, and how creative the decorations were. I will definitely be using them for anything I have coming up in the future and I have already referred her to friends.

Stephanie is beyond amazing...she can take something simple and turn it into something stunning! My husband was deploying so we decided to get married faster than planned and we were just going to go to some park and do it there. A week before we were going to do that Stephanie asked if i wanted her to help... she turned our wedding into something simple but beautiful in a week. She did my bouquet, all the floral decorations, even a beautiful flower piece that floated in the pool. Shes simply amazing and I’m lucky enough to call her a personal friend, she’s so selfless and a calming person to be around. She’s a beautiful soul. You would not regret choosing her to do your flowers!

My husband and I worked with Jessica from Blissful Events. SHE WAS A LIFE-SAVER! We contacted her in January to help us plan for a wedding in June. Not much time, but enough to make our dreams come to reality! She helped us coordinate with the caterer, the venue, the wedding cake bakery, the bartender, DJ, officiants, florists, decorators, photographer, and all other parties involved in the wedding and reception. I could not be happier with our experience using Blissful Events. From the incredible level of professionalism, attention to detail, and personal affability, Jessica was incredible and made sure the day went off perfectly! Also, if you happen to be an LGBT couple, I would say that Blissful Events is the perfect option for you! Being a gay couple getting married in Oklahoma, me and my husband were very careful in our selection of wedding planning personnel--and we are so glad we waited until we found Jessica at Blissful Events. Never once did we feel anything but exuberance, affirmation, and helpfulness. I would say, DO NOT PASS UP WORKING WITH BLISSFUL EVENTS!!!

Brooke did an amazing job with our main floor lighting project! I lacked vision on how to incorporate new fixtures from our entry, living to kitchen and dining, Brooke came in and discovered our taste in decor, made a proposal, we fell and love with ALL of her recommendations! We get so many compliments! Brooke was timely, professional, easy and fun to work with! We highly recommend her!

        About

I love to do interior decorating. I am eight hours away from graduating with my B.F.A. degree. I especially enjoy seasonal decorating. I do not personally do work outside, but I am willing to create a plan of work that can be done by someone. (For example, at Christmas time, I can use what the customer has to decorate their home how they wish, or I can purchase new items, as part of the budget, and instruct people on how to create my vision.) I am also talented in the kitchen. I enjoy baking and cooking. I attended culinary arts school back in 2001, so I know about kitchen safety, and I'm very cautious with keeping things clean in a kitchen. I have been told that I am a good writer. I'm not so great at the spelling aspect, but I utilize spell check quite often. I am very detail oriented and pretty organized, and I would love the opportunity to really get my talents out there.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

        • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
        • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
        • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
        • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

        • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
        • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
        • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
        • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

How much do interior designers charge?

You can hire an interior design for a job as basic as a one-room consultation or as complex as supervising the design of an entire new home, helping with space planning, choosing color palettes, and shopping for furniture, flooring and artwork. The size and scope of the job will determine how much an interior designer charges; the average national cost for an interior designer ranges from $75 to $100 or more per hour. Other cost factors include the person’s reputation — interior designers to the stars are usually more expensive — and region. Most interior designers charge an average of $100-$225 for an initial consultation, but some will charge an hourly rate, usually starting at an average of $50, for larger projects that require extensive consultations. Hourly rates may be available for smaller projects, such as redecorating a living room or staging a home for sale; for instance, shopping and consulting can cost an average of $75 to $100 per hour, while staging costs and average $95 per hour. For many homeowners, a percentage of an interior designer’s cost is recouped through the professional discounts they receive from their vendors.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
