Although I had no prior experience playing the saxophone or any instrument, Julie works at my pace. I don’t feel rushed or pressured. Each lesson builds upon the last. She is professional and knowledgeable. Her musical background and experience is very impressive. She provides quality training at a price that can’t be beat. I highly recommend Julie!Dec 7, 2019Verified
Our initial meeting was great can't wait to see what great things are ahead!!!😁👍Jun 17, 2020Verified
I can't say enough about how much Julie has helped my frustrated son with music. Julie helped with techniques and broke down lessons into manageable tasks and goals for my middle schooler and it was just what was needed. My son is more consistent with practices and is progressing much quicker than I expected.Aug 5, 2019
Julie Lewis is one of the BEST sax teachers I’ve ever had the experience of working with. Her passion for her craft and music is apparent in the way she plays, teaches, and works with other people. She’s very good at understanding what type of teaching style people respond to, and as someone who’s been struggling to learn some real sax stuff, she’s helped me improve step by step. Her knowledge for jazz is immeasurable, and as a teacher, the knowledge that she’s imparted on to me are things that I continue to remind myself almost daily when I work on my horn. She’s also recommended some great sax literature to me, and has helped me out through the times I’ve felt like I’ve been in a rut. In short, Julie is a professional as both a player, and as a teacher. I could not recommend her more highly.Aug 3, 2019
Julie did an excellent job of assessing my ability, and working to build me into a better player in all aspects. I definitely recommend her to anyone who wants to improve!Aug 6, 2019
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I first taught private lessons for the Granville School of Music back in 2014. I found the work to not only to be incredibly fulfilling, but also exciting as I witnessed my students grow and improve as they worked toward a recital. Unfortunately, I left after a year due to a move, but I continued teaching and developing my own studio over the last five years.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?I would say don’t settle for a teacher if there aren’t results. Music is something that takes time and effort to improve at, but if that time and effort has been put in and there’s no improvement, the problem might be the teaching style.
