Most brides have little experience getting this stuff done, although, to the person, they have brilliant, personal ideas that need to be included in this precious day.
I keep pretty busy with my media and non profit work, but I can't express how much I treasure offering my quite original ideas and concepts to match precisely those of the family to create an experience both highly personal and one family and friends will talk about forever.
I'm not an wedding planner at all, but I've served as an event planner for such happenings as the two inaugurals of Governor Mary Fallin, the world premieres of several movie premieres, including "Twister," "You Know My Name" and most recently "Persecuted." I'm always available to offer advice. Which you can totally blow off.
I've been married 27 years yet I'll never forget the tension, the family intrusion, the last minute disasters and the pure ecstasy of our special day.
We were married in the Blue Room of the Capitol. Our dear friend, a minister, poet and published author offered an uplifting ceremony of which our friends still speak. My best friend's father played the ukulele and sang Cole Porter's "True Love" and Louis Armstrong's "A Kiss to Build On."
It was magic.
If I can offer, by my small part in all this, one second of that happiness, it's an honor to have done so.
