Hired Travis, to repair a squeek, on one of the bedroom floor, he found the problem, also told him I needed to paint the room but needed the floor repair first, he told me he could paint it and my carpet needed to be clean, he said he could do that also,. Wow nice to hire a handyman, so far he repaired the floor , and has painted, doing a good job, will be cleaning the carpet later. I will hire him in the future for other projects. Thank you Travis.

Tim and his crew were fantastic! They painted our interior walls, touched up even where they didn’t paint (trim, ceiling), AND helped us move our belongings from the storage unit into our new home and garage. We could not be happier with the outcome. 10/10 - would recommend and would hire them again!

Greg Pearce is an great guy. He is also very professional when it comes to doing business. He listens to the customer and then ask questions so that he understands exactly what the customer needs in order to accomplish a specific goal. For instance, his company painted the inside of our house. Greg personally measured all the rooms so that he could give us the most accurate estimate. My wife and I really appreciated that. His company also power washed the outside of our home and did some lawn care as well. It was all good work and was performed in a timely fashion. DBM is a reputable company and Greg Pearce is trustworthy. He is willing to make things right with the customer. Go with Greg Pearce and DBM.

Gabe doesn't promise anything he can't deliver. He takes pride in his work and it is reflected in the quality and craftsmanship of everything he does. His first project for us was building a pergola to add to our deck. We get harsh west sun and wanted something open, but also something that added some shelter. We use all the time. It's better than we ever expected. Our next project was a major remodel of our master bathroom. I smile every time I walk in. Everything from the tile to the shower to the tub to the sink. He did a fantastic job. Gabe hires great subs, when necessary, and they are equally as professional. He helped us find a reliable painting contractor that did an excellent job painting our house, and found another crew to refinish our kitchen cabinets. We are very pleased and will definitely hire R Shields Construction for our next project(s)! --Dana Box and Lucy Dolman, Sand Springs, Oklahoma

We recently had a new garden concrete path installed, a new fenced trash area built, hot tub pad levelled and garden fence and pergola painted by Roberto and his team. They did an outstanding job, great communication at every step, super clean workmanship and respectful to the neighbours garden as they proceeded with the work. Very responsive and got the job done , correct, first time. Give Roberto a call and get help with those jobs that just haven’t got done.

Matt had been a wonderful contractor. Easy to deal with and he takes time to discuss questions. He had always been courteous and hard-working. I would not hesitate to use him again and refer him. Matt had painted the entire interior if our home, fixed floors, plumbing issue, hung a ceiling fan, plus so much more than we expected. His pricing is reasonable for the quality of work he and his crew perform.

He is simply the best painting contractor that I have worked with over the last 10 years. His prices are fair, his work is outstanding. He and his crew leave no collateral damage when they complete their job. I very am comfortable with them being around my family, or leaving them at the house working, with no concerns about integrity or honesty.

3 Amigos Painting/Remodeling performed a fast and complete job of building outside hand rails for the front and back porches and painting out deck, benches and the new rails in two days. They are very prompt and mannerly. The only thing that kept the work from being 5 stars was the lack of sanding on benches and rails before painting.

What an amazing experience this was. I was in a desperate position with relaxing Windows due to weather. I had previously hired two individuals who were no-shows, and another who never finished the job. Justin and Stacy arrived at the crack of dawn with all the equipment necessary to get it done. They worked late into the evening to complete this critically important task. They did extras, unasked, which was a real treat. They were such great workers, that I showed them the other things I need done in order to get my house ready to sell. They again arrive promptly, turned my deck from a raggedy looking old mess into a bright and shiny new looking asset to this property. They fixed my gate and restored the wood, painted what needed painting -- including 12 doors, three 15-light exterior doors -- for a ridiculously low price. These heroes of the UNhandy person are here again this morning opening up the chimney and attaching its cap. Justin and Stacy are a treasure. I have, possibly foolishly, never checked references before on the people who work on my house. This last disaster with the windows, which I began trying to get done in September, made me insist on a reference from Justin and Stacy. I spoke at length with a local businessman for whom Justin used to work. He had nothing but good to say about Justin and, in fact, was so impressed with this couple that he offered to correct himself anything that was not done well. It was a nice promise, but has proven to be totally unnecessary. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

    • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
    • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
    • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
    • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
