- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I take at least 18 hours of Continuing Professional Education each year to keep up on the latest changes. The Internal Revenue Service is for the first time in history requiring preparers to take competency tests, complete at least 15 hours of education a year and registering with the IRS to be a paid preparer. Included in the education is a complete course of ethics that all preparers must adhere to. This helps to protect taxpayers from unscrupulous preparers.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Call or come in for a free initial consultation. Come prepared with the questions you have pertinent to your business. Get prices and references. Call the references. Remember, you must share all aspects of your business and finances with us. Make sure you are comfortable with the person and feel you can communicate effectively with them. Make sure they are available when you need answers or help. Do not trust someone that promises something that is "too good to be true" or a guaranteed refund or savings. That is just not possible. Good Accountants and Tax Preparers try their best to save their clients money but even the IRS cannot guarantee a person a refund.
