Cynthia was very professional and a great DJ. Everyone had a great time! I would recommend her to anyone.Jan 18, 2016Verified
As someone who is entering into an agreement each party needs to be informed of the conditions ( and preferably have such a contract in writing with signature , but not legally necessary). Honestly, I was not smart and entered a contract when I should have asked more questions but as part of an agreement Cynthia did not disclose key details. If both parties don't know the conditions of an agreement then the entire agreement becomes void. Even though she has offered to pay half of my refund, because she felt sorry for me might I add, I have not received it. I am extremely disappointed with how rude she was. I have learned my lesson and won't be making it again. I have found a dj willing to do twice as much for the same price and I am incredibly grateful but I want to warn others- be careful, hire someone you trust, request a copy of the complete contract before you agree to ANYTHING.Feb 29, 2016VerifiedTulsa Karaoke DJ Nights's reply
Before I met with Amy and collected the deposit I let her know that the deposit was to secure the date. She asked if Mid March was too late to hire me. I told her "I can't hold the date without a deposit. I'm getting ready to do a trade show next weekend and I can only hold dates that are secured" The key word is "secured". If Amy was still shopping around for a better offer and then wanted to pull her deposit when she found one, that would mean she did not live up to her end of the agreement in securing her date with a deposit. I explained this to her. I did miss out on several booking opportunities at the trade show for this date as a result (two not so great but one better than hers). She messaged me the day after the trade show was over to let me know she found someone else. I felt that I was being more than generous to even offer her half of her deposit back considering she did back out of her end of the agreement. I guess since she agreed online and in person she felt that didn't mean anything since I didn't ask her to sign anything. I have been in entertainment for 12 years and I suppose I'm lucky this is the first time I've encountered this issue. I will not make the mistake again of missing a client signing a contract. However, at our meeting her 2 year old daughter was fussy and our meeting was cut short. I'm a mother of 5 so I completely understand this kind of situation. But please understand that we did have an agreement and there were a lot of distractions at our meeting. I also want to just mention that I have refunded deposits in the past but for reasons such as a wedding being canceled or uncontrollable circumstances. I'm not a tyrant I'm a business owner. If you aren't sure about your decision in booking then don't ask a business owner to set aside a date for you on their calendar and close it off to any potential clients. And I'm not looking for any new customers with this kind of logic. Securing a date is a service in itself.
A party for my two year old daughter. The painter was dressed very nice and was so patient. She painted 15-20 kids in an hour and was sweet with the little ones.Apr 11, 2016Verified
