We hired Will for our wedding back in the fall. He's an excellent piano player and made our ceremony and reception super special. Also the DJing made our reception a lot of fun. The guests kept complimenting how great the music was! And my wife was super happy. Glad we hired Will to complete our special day!

We had the pleasure of working with Venia Photography for our engagement and wedding photos! For our wedding we got the opportunity to work with Rachelle and AJ. We got their full attention from getting ready in the salon to the moment we rode away in our chariot. They were so easy to work, professional, and creative. We were so happy to see some of the "surprise" shots they took behind the scene. We look forward to taking our anniversary shot with Venia Photography every year!

June was amazing. I didn't have much of an idea on what I wanted my bridal flowers to look like, besides a picture. She worked extremely well with little direction, and I definitely appreciated that. I had to plan my Portland wedding from Alabama, and it was nice being able to trust her to do an amazing job. Everything turned out so beautiful! Thank you for everything June!!

Will was the DJ for our wedding this past August, but really Will was the glue that held it all together which is exactly what myself as a crazy stressed bride needed. Will and I never met face to face until the day of our event(made things way easy for my busy schedule) and he made the entire process so easy and stress free. He far exceeded our expectations beyond what I could ever put into words. He made our wedding day everything I hoped it would be. I would recommend his services to anyone and we will only use Will for our DJ needs in the future!

Dj Kraze and his assistant were AMAZING! They came to the rescue and saved our wedding day last minute!! They were flexible, easy to work with, had everything we asked for, and kept party alive until shut down. With a great selection of music and a variety of songs for request they were really prepared! His assistant which happens to be a licensed bar tender stepped up to bar tend our wedding because our bartender didn't show up last minute! Great people to work and would highly recommend them for any event! Thank you guys, we had an amazing day!

They did our wedding video and did an AMAZING job! Everything about the video was perfection and makes me cry every time! I can't even count how many compliments we received for our wedding video. David, Olivia, and Johnathan were very professional and got tons of footage between the three of them. They used two cameras and a drone and the footage they combined for the video was breathtaking. I would highly recommend them to anyone!!

As a Dessert Caterer, I had the opportunity to meet Lacy at one of our shared wedding. I was impressed with all the big & little things she was dealing with. It seemed like she didn't want to miss a thing, making sure all was done in timely manner., without even giving herself any mini brakes. Since then, I can proudly call her my colleague in a Special Events business. Definetely will recommend her services to my brides.

As the wedding has only just recently occurred, we are waiting to see the finished products, but are quite confident it will not disappoint. The value was astounding- I greatly appreciate the willingness of Jim Costa Films to work within our budget and to provide the most for the money. I was very pleased with promptness and professionalism when communicating needs, details and expectations. Especially as I was assisting in planning a wedding for my brother who lives 3000 miles away. Despite the challenges faced the day of the event, Jim still managed to make it to us in the nick of time! To top it all off, we were very happy to have such a friendly and thoughtful vendor helping the day go smoothly. We were all at ease and trust fully in his efficiency! I highly recommend.

Sandra photographed my daughter's wedding on July 17th. She did a fantastic job. She arrived early to take pre-wedding shots of us getting ready. During the wedding she was everywhere in a non-obtrusive way by getting great shots without being noticeable. Then, during the reception, she, again, was everywhere. Didn't miss a thing! She was able to get great traditional shots and very beautiful cameos and non-traditional pictures. After the big day, she spent countless hours making sure the pictures were beautiful...correcting color, making some B&W, or using sepia. I am super delighted with her work! Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I got married on the beach, which is probably the most difficult location for a DJ. He had many obstacles to face when it came to cutting out background noise, setting up equipment and projecting sound. And he did an outstanding job and didn't mind getting a little sandy! He took care of the little details and things I hadn't even thought about. He was always smiling and an overall joy to be around, he really did help make our day absolutely perfect. I have recommended Zack numerous times and have been to multiple weddings he has attended. Each wedding the sound has gone perfectly and the music selection during the reception has created a fun atmosphere. He totally deserves 5 bright gold stars for his service, he's awesome!

We had to cancel our original plans for a destination wedding and needed a local officiant on short notice. Also, our situation was very unique and not a good fit for a standard ceremony. Lisa went above and beyond to work with us to put the pieces together and wrote a unique ceremony that was just perfect for us. We cannot say enough about how amazing she is!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.
