I found Jason Trammell on Thumbtack in June. I am very pleased with the results I have achieved under his guidance. I was 430 lbs and no one would train me because of my size. I lost a 100 lbs in 4 months. I was unable to move very well and Jason scaled down all the exercises to my fitness level. He also motivated me beyond what I thought was possible. Jason encouraged me to make positive changes in eating habits and to be more active. I still have a ways to go but I am confident if I stick with Jason's routine I will reach my goal by the spring!
Well my first experience with Turk was very interesting and an eye opener. He took me through his HIT Training (High Intensity Training) style and forced me to go to failure every single grueling set.. There weren't many sets but boy did they HURT.. Not only did he shorten my rest periods in combination with doing giant sets with medium to heavy weight which I wasn't used to but it definitely did the trick.. Not only did I leave the session feeling like I had been put through a meat grinder, I came away with two important things that still help me to this day as an NPC Bodybuilder.. First, Intensity is paramount no matter what style you use for training.. Second, believe in yourself and keep pushing no matter how immovable the load seems.. So, If you're looking to get into competition shape or just get into shape for that vacation or wedding definitely look Turk Fickling up!
Travis Baker is a great personal trainer. My strength and endurance have improved by leaps and bounds. He is professional and very knowledgable about nutrition and fitness. My first session with Functional Body was extremely eye opening and super beneficial to be health & fitness. I have been Very active all my life playing college soccer and a short period of time playing professional soccer. After my playing career I moved into lifting a lot of weights kind of going for the bodybuilding type of features that I was looking for. I thought becoming stronger and well balanced in my left side of Olympic lifting would benefit me longer-term and help me become a healthier person. I have done other types of fitness including yoga Pilates. Bar orange theory high intensity interval training and when I saw functional body I wanted to try it out. I knew core activation was a huge component of being fit but with working it with the instructor Brandon for the first time he really Opened my eyes about activating my transverse muscle which is a huge component in controlling your body movements and basic human Movement. I highly recommend anybody looking to become a better performing athlete, human being, healthier, long Jevity on joints I strongly encourage to take a session with functional body before doing any type of other fitness.
I was very satisfied and impressed with the level of expertise, acute knowledge, and passion that he has for his profession. Apart from his physical training, he is well versed in food nutrition, which in my opinion is a potent mix for anyone serious about fitness. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is willing to change and commit to a healthier lifestyle.
After only one month of training, I feel so much stronger and toned. I've signed up for another month to continue my journey of getting my fitness level back to where I want it. Travis is extremely knowledgable about excerise and the human body . I really appreciate his informed and kind guidance. He's made me feel really comfortable in the land of "the gym"! Fredy has exposed me to a totally different way of training. He has shown and taught me how to do less and gain more through a mind/body connection and functional training approach. I have been able to take out high intensity workouts, which have put strain on my body in the pass, replace them with his expertise and see better results. Not only do I move better, stand taller, and feel stronger, but I feel less stress and pain throughout my body. I also feel as though I more awareness of and connection to what my body can achieve, which as an athlete, is incredible. I started my training with Ethan after giving birth to my second son over two years ago. I started to feel healthier very soon after and started to see results in just a few short weeks. After all these years, he still makes each session a challenge but fun, from high intensity interval to circus training to strength training to kick boxing to combination of everything. I love him because he is a great trainer who wants to help and put in his best but I also love him because he challenges me to put in my best. I value my training sessions with him and his health and nutrition advice very much. I’m thankful for having him there to guide me to see my potential and I know you won’t be disappointed either.
I started training with Elston at Lifestyle Evolved when I was 9 weeks postpartum. After giving birth to my beautiful daughter, I was ready to reclaim my strength and fitness. Elston worked with my schedule as a busy mama and set up a fitness routine for me that makes it possible to do the majority of my training circuits at home while my daughter naps (I can get most of the workouts completed in 30 minutes). I've now been training with him for 7 weeks, and in the first 4 weeks, I have had encouraging results: I lost .5 cm in my chest and waist, 1 cm in my hips, and .75 cm in my thighs. I am now back in all of my pre-baby work clothes and feel in optimistic about pushing forward to even greater fitness. The workouts planned by Elston at Lifestyle Evolved are highly effective if his training suggestions are heeded. I definitely recommend this gym.
Jeremiah was my personal trainer for approximately 10 months. I appreciated his knowledge, skill and enthusiasm. Jeremiah made workouts fun even when VERY challenging. Working with him raised my fitness to a new level. I highly recommend him without reservation and would happily work with him again if I could.
Any day is gym day for Anthony. He is so passionate at what he does and has inspired me the very moment we met. Both friend and workout buddy, he impresses me each day. If you want result, you'll get it! The importance of healthy eating and the love of food makes him different from other trainers too. He does a balance of cross fit, high intensity training and Olympic lifting so he'll know what to do in order to suit the need for a client!
Jenny is everything you could ever ask for in a trainer. First, her workouts make great use of your time: they are challenging, efficient, varied enough to keep things interesting, and she effortlessly tailors them to suit different fitness levels. Second, her personality is so well suited to her profession: she has a great sense of humor, she is patient but won't let you off the hook, she has a great communication style and a voice that projects so you never wonder what she said over the music, and she genuinely seems to love her job. The small group training at Workout Anytime in Beaverton is awesome. The trainers are educated, supportive and want to see you reach your goals. Scott has personally changed my life with nutrition counseling, meal planning and fitness. He knows what he is doing and you will see results!
Working with Taylor was awesome! Most of my experience with trainers has been martial arts, strength training, and powerlifting, and I was once a trainer myself. I found Taylor on his Instagram and saw that he was a former collegiate track athlete, so I worked with him to incorporate sprint training into my workouts to get cardio in while building muscle. I personally don't enjoy cardio, so I knew that I needed an expert to hold me accountable. When I tried to sprint on my own, it KILLED my lower back and I didn't really know how the track lane markings worked. In my first meeting with Taylor, he walked me through all the track markings and proper sprint basics. We did mostly 100m for our sessions though. Taylor's attention to detail helped me sprint pain-free and so much faster, and my form was so much better. Juggling sprint training with powerlifting was rough and Taylor did a great job at picking the right exercises and drills at the appropriate intensity to keep me improving without over-reaching or over-training. Taylor also added in stuff that was relevant to my other goals like calisthenics and abdominal training, which I never do in my powerlifting gym and certainly not on my own. The results speak for itself. I went from being stuck at a max squat of 360 for months to squatting a max of 380 after several weeks of incorporating sprints. Let me start off by saying that I hate jogging to keep in shape. I will happily sprint around an Ultimate (Frisbee) field for hours, but I can't stand going for a run. When I started medical school and did not have time to play pick-up games, I got out of shape. With the club season for Ultimate on the horizon, I needed to get back on my game. I thought that in order to develop the speed, agility, and endurance I needed on the field, I would have to eventually do some running exercises. So I joined the gym in hopes that I could work out on my own time and have enough equipment to not get bored. But it was too overwhelming. I did not know how to structure a workout to fit my needs and did not have enough experience with the equipment to ensure proper form. Luckily, a guy at the gym recommended that I try a personal training package with Berley. Even though he has never played Ultimate, he knew exactly what I needed. Each session was unique, but challenging. Sometimes I came in slightly sore from the previous session, but he would have a workout that focused on using my muscles in a completely different way. Berley was great at recognizing when I could push myself further and when I needed a break. Even though the workouts were intense, I always felt really good about myself when I left. The best part: Berley never made me do any running :) Aside from feeling good at the gym, the results have been very noticeable on the field. I am able to sprint a lot faster than I ever had before. My endurance is better. I can jump higher. I am able to change directions more quickly. It feels good to be able to sprint equally hard when switching between defense and offense on a long point. It feels good to stay on the field for many consecutive points before feeling tired. It feels great to keep up with some of the best ladies in town and leave a lot of other people in the dust. And when I'm feeling tired on the field, I think of my sessions with Berley and tell myself that I have a lot more in me. Berley was an amazing and inspiring trainer. He helped me find strength that I didn't know I had and renewed my passion for fitness. I am sad he left Portland, but I feel lucky that I got a chance to train with him.
Working with Brenn has been life changing! I have 2 herniated disks and was an active athlete growing up so it's been devastating that for 4 years I have been unable to workout pain free. Since doing TRX, I have gotten stronger, lost weight, and most importantly been able to workout without pain! I highly recommend TRX for anyone at any strength level or injury. She's kind to our bodies and pushes us to become stronger!
Michael is the best. The HIIT(High Intensity Interval Training) aka Boot Camp is great! It doesn't matter if you are young, or young at heart, he'll go out of his way to keep things fresh and make it fun for everyone. Where ever you may find yourself at within your fitness journey, he'll modify things to suit you. Michael and Nick are the awesome!!
Jared at FitnesSupreme is the best! He creates a custom routine and macro nutrition plan based off your goals and will adjust accordingly throughout the training period. He rattles off scientific names of muscles and can answer any of your questions. He really knows his stuff and was a pleasure to work with. I'm very happy with my results and will work with Jared again in the future.
Cannon has been nothing but very motivating and helpful. He makes every workout intense and full of variety. I couldn't recommend him more highly. Definitely the best trainer I have ever worked with. I found Lynnell quite by happenstance. I am glad my kids made me stop at the bouncy house one day in the Urgent Care parking lot. Lynnell was at a table with many others there but I was drawn to her. It was time for me to get moving and she was there to help. She is very approachable, adapts to my needs and genuinely cares about me and my goals. In all the years I have worked out off and on, I have never really looked forward to seeing my trainer, knowing the pain and intensity that was coming. With Lynnell it is different. I make time to see her and even after a hard workout, I leave with a smile. She not only nutures my muscles, but my soul too. I may not be a poster child of results because she can't control what I put in my mouth, but I am stronger and more tone than I used to me. I met Dawn through the internet and I didn't really know what to expect. When I met Dawn for my consultation she was very polite, friendly, energetic, caring, and inspiring. She explained how she breaks down her training and we agreed on a plan, based on what results I was looking to achieve. She asked me some questions pertaining to who I was as an individual, my goals, my hobbies, & my lifestyle. I currently am still training with Dawn and have been for almost three months. Which I started doing the insanity workout and couldn't even make it past the 2month period, so this is big. I had told her I wanted to do a workout thats the same as insanity, but not everyday and not high intensity. She made a workout to fit my needs, my requests, and it's always different. Not only do I still train, but I've lost over 10 pounds in her 21day clean lean program. Her 21day clean lean program helped me weed out the bad food in my diet and be more aware of things to avoid as well as how much I should be eating. It energized me to also try a lot of new meals that I would've never tried on my own being a typical college kid. I really love training with her, I've become a lot more stronger and am continuing to shed the pounds. During her trainings I don't notice the pain, because I'm having fun and the time just flies by. She's very smart too. She explains why she chooses certain exercises, how they affect the muscles, and makes sure they are always done correctly. I've found from my past experience trainers are usually all about the money too. I trained with someone that as soon as they found out I didn't have the money they wanted to get from me they dropped me. Dawn is very caring, she has gone out of her way to provide a schedule thats cost efficient to me without me even saying anything. She always considers my work and school schedule. She's very motherly and she'll help you meet your goals if you let her. She has a lot to offer and I highly recommend her.
I've been training with Borce for some time and he is the best!! He always keeps your goals in mind and helps push you harder to achieve those goals. I've enjoyed his approach to fitness combining weight lifting, and high intensity workouts that make you sweat!! Borce is really easy to get a hold of and holds you accountable in reaching your goals! He is a highly knowledgable individual with an energetic personality that makes the workouts fun!
