FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My promotion is for driveways because the area is predictable and accessible. I like being able to post what I charge and the pricing structure I use. Often companies won't talk about pricing until they're at your house. So, my driveway promotion is $90 for up to 500 square feet. That's an 18' x 28' driveway! Additional driveway or public sidewalk/curb area is 18 cents per square foot. Other areas like patio, deck, sport court, pool area, etc. are at comparable rates. There are many factors to consider when bidding for a job. It's not strictly area. Among them are: surface type and condition, accessibility, drainage, and location (2nd story deck? or patio down steep narrow stairs?). I'm happy to talk with my clients about my rate structure and the factors for their particular project.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Estimates are free and I am always happy to visit the customer, discuss their needs, measure each area separately, and write up a bid. The homeowner should always have their hand on the 'faucet' so I will detail the bid as specifically as they request. Scheduling is usually within a week and on any day of the week but at their convenience. I try to start jobs in the morning but never before 9 AM so neighbors can sleep in if they want. I'm often able to do the job while my customer is also at work. All I need is an outside spigot and clearance/permission regarding backyard work and/or pets. Customers are happy to come home to a finished job with their surfaces washed and rinsed.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I bought a pressure washer to clean my own driveway. My mom lived in the adult community of Summerfield in Tigard. I cleaned her driveway too. It made her neighbor's driveway look less than clean and since it was for sale I was asked to clean it. So, I started my small pressure washing business. Now I have over 50 customers in the Summerfield community and I know a bunch of them pretty well! :) Now I'm in my11th year in business and I'm lovin' every minute.
