FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
In the state of Oregon estimates are legally free of charge. An estimate of charges may only be given after a full visual inspection of your goods by us. You should NOT select a mover based solely on the lowest estimate provided because estimates are NOT binding and may differ from the final cost. Be cautious if you receive a very low estimate as compared to other estimates because all services may not have been included or it may not be accurate. Binding estimates or guarantees of actual charges are illegal on intrastate transportation of household goods in Oregon. Final charges for moves must be based upon rates published in the mover's tariff and approved by Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), regardless of any estimate given by the mover prior to the move. To sum it up, movers in Oregon have very little to say in how much we can legally charge you the customer.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After a potential customer contacts our team we get as much info about them and their move as we can. Once we have gotten your info from a phone call, text, email, or however, we will set up an in person estimate. At the estimate our sales person will walk through your home with you to go over exactly what you expect with the process. Room by room we will take inventory of what will be moved and what obstacles stand in our way. After the walk through you will be emailed a detailed estimate of charges. It is up to you to carefully read and understand exactly what the charges will be and if you have any questions at all, our team will be by the phone ready to answer any questions you may have.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The owner of Higher Ground has been in the moving industry for over seven years. During this time he has worked for small Mom-&-Pop companies as well as for a multi-national relocation firm. Working with people and making them comfortable has always been a passion of his and it really shows in our company culture. HGM employees are trained how to properly use moving pads and equipment in order to safely and successfully get you moved. Our team truly cares about what we do and we know that this careful attitude shows in our work ethics and translates into seamless moves.
