Mike is a great counselor, unfortunately it was too much of a commute for us but I would strongly recommend him for couples counseling.
Scott is pragmatic, supportive, empathic and knowledgeable about the numerous issues we've brought to him. He draws from a multitude of paradigms to offer his best assessment and understanding of what he is observing and hearing. He has also helped us to come up with simple, practical and doable self-interventions to "try at home." Whether you are seeking a deep dive or tune-up, I would definitely recommend Scott for couples counseling.
Freedom lives her yoga on and off the mat. She intermingles her beauty, her philosophy and a well thought out physical practice with a balance of both soothing and strong moving asanas. Freedom is a beautiful and unique instructor who deeply cares for her students.
My husband and I did marriage counseling with Jay and really enjoyed it. We were long distance so our situation was unique but he did a great job and we used Skype so it felt like we were still there. We really liked all the quizzes and resources he gave us. Things came up that we didn't even think about before and he focused on our differences to make sure we could work through things together. We learned a lot about each other which was great. It really helped prepare us for marriage.
My experience with Terry Daggett was one of the best of my life. We really clicked as a therapist/patient couple. It's possible if I wouldn't have met Terry, I wouldn't have any kind of relationship with my mother... but today she is my best friend. I never thought that to be possible. Terry helped me look inside myself and at relationships to help make them better. Amazing work. Wish I was still near her to see her today.
After evaluating the responses on Thumbtack, I found that Refresh Therapy, Inc was just the fit for the situation that was needing to be addressed.
Marissa is genuine and compassionate in her therapy work. I felt comfortable talking with her from the moment we met.
Shantika is a skilled professional and a compassionate healer. I have found her emphasis on addressing feelings through the body is an excellent adjunct to traditional talk therapy in my own personal growth work. She uses a range of modalities that are very effective, but not as well know in the US - Family Constellation and Rosen, in particular. She is also an excellent massage therapist if the issue is simply sore or tight muscles.
In short, Sarah is hands down one of the best therapists I have ever had! She is professional, compassionate, and obviously skilled at what she does. You might even say she is truly gifted! She listens well and has a unique ability to interpret what has been said. She then lays it out in a nice tidy concise way in which it allows you to make self discoveries and growth on your own terms! I highly recommend her as an individual and/or couples therapist. Her natural abilities to empathize make you feel comfortable to share and at the end of the session feel validated and clear headed!
There are so many counselors, healers, therapists, lifestyle gurus and professional advice-givers out there that it's easy to feel overwhelmed by all the choices. As a mother of three, I've spent who knows how much time and money looking for effective support for my family's health, only to find superficial, time consuming programs that may produce short-lived results (that require constant re-upping to maintain any effectiveness), but never really get to the heart of what we need. Nothing I've tried has come close to the kind of immediate, deep affect that working with Krista has provided. Her methods are so gentle and intuitive that it's hard to believe the powerful results. Within a week of our first hour-long session, my energy and sense of well-being were raised dramatically. I felt clearer and more confident in my body's ability to heal and was amazed when the results started reaching beyond the original issue for which I had sought her out. Five years later, I don't hesitate to turn to Krista first for all of my and my family's health questions, from nutrition to mental/emotional and relationship dilemmas. Her compassionate manner and truly holistic approach have given me the support I've needed to overcome blocks and reach my goals, without the confusing and often guilt-inducing yo-yo effect I've experienced with other practitioners. She understands that our lives aren't cookie-cutter and our issues aren't compartmentalized, and so is able to invest in the whole client and get to the actual root of a problem, instead of just temporarily easing the symptoms. If you've tried all the healthy living fads, diet programs, all the different therapies, alternative and conventional, and are still feeling stuck, please set up an appointment with Krista, and get ready for a breakthrough!
Dana is a blessing in my life. I have searched for her for a long time. I have tried many different therapists and never felt that they could quite grasp me or keep up with my ever changing thoughts, it is not easy but Dana does it with ease. Every time I finish a session I feel lighter, energized and clear. It is hard to put into words how grateful I am for her support. She is extremely good at what she does and truly cares. She has helped me tremendously.

I have lived and worked in the Portland Metro area since 1995 after spending my childhood and undergraduate years on the East Coast. During this time, I have worked in both the private and public sectors, with children, adults and families. I work with clients and families with struggles including; relational difficulties, family conflicts, mood disorders, self-esteem, anxiety and the effects of trauma. I also work often with those who are seeking overall peace, mastery and true meaning in their life. I assist clients with building hope and learning safe ways to cope and function so they can find their own success and truth as individuals, partners and/or family systems. My passion is to help clients feeling stuck to explore and create new solutions when others have not worked. I have worked for many years with children, adults and families who have struggled with complex and long term mental health needs often combined with substance use and abuse and or/trauma. I have long term experience working with families who have come together through foster care or adoption. I also enjoy supporting adolescents/young adults with developing and practicing successful transitions to adulthood and independence. My overall therapeutic approach is based in mindfulness and awareness building techniques. I also integrate a wide variety of other approaches depending on the individual needs of each client. These approaches include; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques, Family Systems Theory, CBT, Attachment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Collaborative Problem Solving emotionally-focused techniques and trauma-based approaches. In my role, I support clients with identifying the source of struggles, and learning effective ways to manage symptoms and develop their own meaning of success. I support clients in defining and honoring their individual needs, beliefs, values and goals. I aim to provide a space for them to explore what is and is not working and to develop tools that assist them in moving toward a better overall quality of life. I work with clients to provide them a safe space to check in, explore and process life's struggles. Over the years, I have been able to build strong relationships with community mental health providers, state agencies, educational and court systems in Washington, Multnomah and Clackamas Counties. I have worked directly with providers at many levels of care including day treatment, psychiatric residential, and state hospital. My years of experience include working with clients from a wide array of backgrounds including; cultural and sexual minority groups, clients from a variety of religious and economic backgrounds, and clients who have experienced significant trauma.
I'm committed to the best possible care for my clients. To me this means that I'm focused not only on outcomes but also process - ensuring that clients feel as though they are progressing towards their goals, that they are learning about themselves and their relationships, and that they are gaining and implementing effective tools for life. I want to make sure that what we do together is sustainable, realistic, and achievable. When obstacles appear, I'm not afraid of identifying and tackling them in order to reduce the chances of falling back into old, destructive patterns. Finally, I have a high standard for the work that I do because I recognize that others' lives and relationships are being affected by the counseling process.
I help people solve problems with relationships so they can lead happier lives. I specialize in addiction, divorce, depression and anxiety.
Displaying a multidimensional perspective gained through her education in Family Systems and Transpersonal Psychology, Dr. Jessica Thomas, has extensive experience helping those struggling with loss, anticipatory grief, complicated grief, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and couple’s and family conflict. Jessica’s compassion and expertise stems from her understanding of the web of connections and emotional dynamics unfolding in contemporary families, couples, and larger organizational systems. She believes that we are all connected, that through awareness we can create meaning, and learn the causes of our own happiness and the conditions for others’ happiness. Clients are guided through a therapeutic process of honest reflection, meaning-making, mindfulness practice, and sometimes, artistic expression. She works co-creatively with individuals, couples, and families to develop authentic treatment plans according to needs, wants, and personalities.
