Introduction: Up to 89% of dirt in carpet is dry. To remove the most dirt dry dirt must be removed dry. Afterwards carpets can be steam cleaned to remove the oils and spots. Most carpet cleaners don't do this. This 2 step process is recommended by the IICRC and carpet manufacturers. It is labor and time intensive, but results in clean restored carpets.
