FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Let's put it this way.... I don't change from Sherwin Williams to Rodda paint because I tapped out my credit line at SW and I have room on my account at Rodda. As a matter of fact I don't use credit ever. I use cash only and I use one paint supplier exclusively and they show their appreciation bye discounting there top of the line interior and exterior paint exclusively for my company. How do I beat any legitimate contractors estimates by 5%. Simple.... #1) They get discounts too but not like mine. #2) They don't pass their discounts on materials to you. (I paint... not sell paint) #3) I charge comparable avg sq ft rate as most everyone else. I should charge comparable rates because if I'm not as good as any other painter out their then I wont beat around the bush.... I'm better and I pass the savings of my material costs too you. I want to work and get paid for my service not find every possible way of sticking it to my customers. Plus "PAINTING IS THE EASIEST THING I DO!"
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Communication and planning before we even sign the contract. I don't want to tell you what you want to hear just so you hire me. If I can't start your project as soon as you want but I tell you I can.... That would be a lie. How else can I put it? Now sometimes the intangibles that a person can't foresee on a project happens and that takes longer to complete so it pushes out your start date. If you have owned your own business long enough you know intangibles happen, you already factor them in to completion date and your next start date. This is an example of knowing what to expect and expecting the worst.I do the opposite of many owners... I would rather under promise and over deliver on my word.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Safety Manager (10 years at a Fortune 500 Manufacturing facility. when Im on site I will identify any safety hazards that could potentially hurt you, your family, my business partner or myself.
