- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I try to learn and understand as much as I can about the person. I prefer to meet in person for a 30 minute introductory consultation at least a few days before the first training session. This gives me the opportunity to asses movement patterns and determine if there are any underlying pathologies that will need to be addressed right from the get go. I ask about their goals, lifestyle, and why making a change is important to them. And of course we will complete your standard medical intake forms covering health history, fitness and diet history, injuries and treatments, limitations etc.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied human physiology at University of Oregon. ISSA CFT since 2009. I have 20 years experience in the gym myself, and have now worked with over 100 clients in reaching their health an fitness goals. I am constantly reading in my spare time to learn as much as i can and stay totally up to date on all the latest research. I am required to complete continuing education to maintain my certification. I had a successful powerlifting career in high school and college. In 2004 I broke the Oregon deadlift record in my division; the record still stands today. I was 3 time state, 2 time national and 1 time world champion in the deadlift, in my division of course.
