"I am moving and my house was really a disaster. Victoria came in and was able to cope with the situation. She brought the house to where it needed to be for me to leave. She is very professional, pleasant and efficient. I would request her in any situation. "

"Linda cleaned my house regularly and did a great job! And that was a challenge as I have many pets and lots of tchotchkes. Then alas, she moved... Liked working with her. "

"Curtis was very professional and did good work. My brother recently bought a very old house with the dirtiest carpet in the kitchen that I have ever seen! (Can't afford new flooring at this time.) Curtis was able to get out a lot of the dirt with his heavy duty equipment. Still looks far from new, but it feels good to know much of the dirt has been removed and the carpets have all been sanitized. I would recommend his work."

"Kelli has provided us with pet sitting, unpacking and organizing services. We were able to meet up in advance and I provided her with very minimal direction. It's like she knew exactly what I wanted before I even knew it myself. When we came back after being away for 5 days, Kelli had transformed our unorganized house into a home. Kelli went above and beyond in taking care of our pups - walking them, bathing them and just loving them which made being away much less difficult. If you are looking for someone who will assist you in a very professional and friendly way, Kelli is perfect. Whatever she does she does impeccably! Kelli's rates are very reasonable and the value she brings makes it worth every penny!"

"Angel and his crew were wonderful to work with. We hired a couple of his team to help us unload our storage unit and move contents into our home, and garage. They worked hard, and were very mindful of all our possessions. They were a joy to work with on every level. Not a single complaint. We will be hiring them again soon for a couple more projects. We highly recommend AHC!"

"Brenda was absolutely incredible. My family was scheduled to move in five days after I hired Brenda to clean our new home, and to put it lightly, she had a lot of work ahead of her. There was mold in both bedrooms and the bathroom, and in darn near every window sill. She initially thought the job would take just 3 hours, but I knew ahead of time that was severely less time than was necessary. I went with Brenda because of her rates and her use of all-natural products (we have a young daughter whom we prefer not to poison with toxic chemicals whenever possible). She toured the home and instantly changed her projected time frame to 5-6 hours, to which I agreed, and I left for work while she went to town on the house. I received a call six hours later indicating that she had spent the entire time cleaning, but that she wasn't able to finish the job - mold is awfully stubborn, and she went over each moldy room multiple times to eradicate the issue. She had to leave after the six hours due to a previously scheduled engagement, but came back the next morning and worked for three additional hours to finish the home (without additional charge). She was rather thorough, and spent time covering all of the main areas. I can't knock a single thing Brenda did; our house was previously leased by a family of hoarders who did not move their belongings in order to clean. The task was daunting, and I'm sure Brenda wasn't looking forward to it. However, she knew how important it was to me and my wife to provide a safe place for our daughter to call home, and she did everything within her power to make our house a home. I would highly recommend Brenda to clean your home, and if I had the means to hire her, I would have her clean my home regularly. "

"I am thrilled with Crystal. She gets going right away, goes thoroughly room by room, so she never misses a thing. Dusts ceilings and walls without being asked. I'm so happy I finally found a house cleaner totally worth her price!"

"Sherry is a reliable trustworthy employee. I’ve been a business owner for 11 years and have used Sherry often through the years when I needed extra hands. I still call her up to this day for big cleaning/restoration projects. I’ve had her up on 10 ft. ladders to 20 ft scaffolding to clean. I love that she is mature enough to know and understands what needs to be done and does it. You could not go wrong using her services. Yours sincerely, Allison Mitchell  "

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do you pay for house cleaning?

Hiring a professional house cleaning service is a helpful way to have a healthy home even when your work and personal schedule is packed. House cleaning prices vary based on how many square feet your home is, how dirty your house gets, and how often the cleaning service comes. Some companies charge a set amount — such as 5 cents — per square foot, with a minimum amount, such as $100. The national average cost for house cleaning ranges between $110 and $150. Prices can be lower in areas with a lower cost of living, higher in big cities or affluent regions. You may save money by increasing the frequency of your house cleaning visits. Often a company will charge you less per cleaning when you schedule more cleanings per month. The cost advantage rewards your loyalty, and also reflects the fact that more frequent cleanings make it easier to maintain a high level of cleanliness in your home. A housecleaning service may charge more for the first visit or for one-time services than for recurring cleanings.

How much does it cost to deep clean a house?

Deep cleaning a house goes beyond the surface level to clear out the dust, grime and gunk that’s collecting on the fan blades, hiding in the blinds, and built up inside the refrigerator drawers. Deep cleaning of a home or apartment costs more than regular house cleaning because it takes more time, effort, and cleaning products. You may choose to have a deep cleaning once or several times a year in addition to your standard cleaning services. You may have a one-time deep cleaning to prepare for company or to clean after a house party. Companies may charge an hourly rate or a price per square foot, or may offer you a flat rate after they have visited your home and estimated work time. The national average house cleaning price is $110-$150, with rates ranging higher for deep-cleaning services. Here are some examples of how a company may calculate their deep-cleaning prices:

  • 10 cents per square foot (compared with 5 cents per square foot for standard house cleaning).
  • $300 for a 3,000-square-foot home.
  • $25 per hour per worker for deep-cleaning services.

How much does a move-out cleaning cost?

Moving is hard enough work even before you have to clean the empty home to perfection. Instead of scrubbing your tile grout with a toothbrush, hire a professional cleaning company to provide move-out cleaning services for you. For moving out of an apartment, cleaning prices can range from $110 to $150. When scheduling a move-out cleaning, talk with the pro and confirm all the key points they will clean to ensure you receive your deposit back.

Important areas to have cleaned include the fridge interior, the oven interior, bathroom tile, the shower and tub, all blinds, and sometimes the walls. Some cleaning companies do not quote a flat rate for a move-out cleaning, as the number of hours it may take to clean structurally identical apartments could vary greatly depending on how clean or dirty the inhabitants were. For example, move-out house cleaning prices may range from $150 to $180 for one- or two-bedroom apartments.
