I've been taking jazz and blues focused double bass lessons from Alex and have learned so much in less than a year. This is my first time learning an instrument and Alex has a done a fantastic job at teaching music and notation basics in addition to teaching jazz, swing, and blues fundamentals. Alex is also incredibly talented on the piano and uses it enhance our lessons and really establish concepts. His ability to play bass is inspiring and a regular reminder that with enough practice, I can sound great on the bass too.Jul 7, 2018

Alex is a great music teacher. My son takes string bass lessons from him. He is able to work basic mechanics and theory into his instruction and still have the lesson be enjoyable. Alex is a calm and patient teacher. It's also inspirational to be able to go see him perform live.Jul 30, 2015
Alex and his quintet gave another great performance at the market! When the music was a bit too loud he was very willing to make changes. Always professional and puts on an enthusiastic performance. Thanks!Aug 3, 2015
I have hired Alex to play multiple gigs at Lewis & Clark College and he always exceeds my expectations. During the planning process he is very responsive and accommodating to the needs of our event. Alex is an extremely talented musician and we always get rave reviews from our guests on his performance. I have also found Alex to be very flexible, there have been times when we have to change the plan in the middle of the event and he always makes it work. He is very professional and I would highly recommend him!Jul 31, 2015
