I call Giron after I failed in trying to locate the source of my leaky roof. They were prompt, very professional, skilled and their bid was very reasonable. They correctly diagnosed the problem, fixed the leak and even gave me photos of their work. When the time comes that I need a new roof, Giron will be the first company I call!

Moss growing on the roof, fence laying on the lawn...not a pretty sight but these guys made it all better fast. Very courteous and friendly, they did an awesome job....gave me good information for future reference...all that at reasonable prices. I really appreciate the clear communication and their follow through on anything they said was going to happen. I will keep this company as my "go to" guys.

After 35 years we needed a new roof, Altas Roofing came through like a Champ! Excellent to work with, great price and quality of work we couldn't have been happier with. Our new roof gave the house the look we wanted. Altas Roofing is the only name you need to know when you need a roof. Ask for Ramiro, he is the man you want to work with. The Caseys

About 6 weeks ago a tree came through our roof. Today we got to the point to have the sheetrock put up. These 2 guys came in worked hard and got it all up in a reasonable time. THEN they cleaned, vacuumed and did not leave a bit of dust. The guys are very nice and did excellent dry wall hanging in our house. Thanks Jose and crew!

Victor applied torch down rolled roofing. I researched the product he offered and found it to be much to my liking. I rated Victor 4 stars, because I had to choose that or 3 stars. I would actually rate him at or near a 3.6 or so for the simple reason that he did not inspect the work applied by his crew. Had he done so he would have noted a few trimming and caulking issues (appearance related only) and he could have explained to me why the roofing was applied differently then we discussed; at the edges and around the vents. No expert, but pretty sure I have a good roof application.

West Coast Roofing installed a new roof on my house using top-quality architecture shingles as well as a skylight tube in the bathroom. Very professional team - clear communication - timely service. The project manager was in constant communication with me during the entire project - he specified everything upfront and there were no hidden/surprise costs. The crew completed the task on schedule and cleaned everything up after themselves. I was very impressed with their quality of work and would highly recommend them for any roofing service.

We needed a two new roof areas on a 4plex. The original roofer was not up to the job. Oscar and his crew came in and saved the day, they were on time, on budget and hard working. One little piece wasn't done an Oscar personally came back on a Friday, after 5 and made it right!

These guys did an amazing job on our roof. My father in law had a roofing business for 30yrs until he retired, so my husband was very specific about things and they answered all our questions, and were very professional. My husband and father in law both agree they did an amazing job. They did a complete tear-off job and did it in a day and a half! And the price was cheaper than what three other companies had quoted us. My roof looks amazing. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs roofing done.

We are so pleased with our Koala-T Exteriors experience! A rep showed up at our door offering free roof inspections & estimates. It just so happened that we were in dire need for a new roof so I took him up on the free apt. I was impressed that the apt was same day. The rep who came to our house, Jarrett Rheaume, was very professional and friendly. He went over all the details and answered all our questions. Jarrett made the whole process easy and comfortable. We were blown away by the fact that our roof could be finished within the next week! And to top it all off, we are impressed by the 50 Year/lifetime warranty, which is transferable to new owners if we ever decide to sell. It was also a pleasure speaking with Dustin (owner) over the phone regarding our questions about financing. The group of guys who completed our new roof were respectful of our home and made sure to clean up all materials. They finished our roof in 2.5 days and it looks amazing! Also, we now have more roof vents which will make a huge difference in keeping our house the right temp. No more stressing about the roof for many years to come. Thank you Koala-T Exteriors team for a great experience, a quality roof, and your professionalism.

I’ve got to say we are extremely happy with the work that was done to our home. We needed a new roof but we were on a budget so we needed options. Emilio from Roof It All came out and gave us a quote to put a new roof on top of the old roof and he saved us a lot of money and we were still able to get 50-year warranty on the material. If you need a roof job done go with the right people to do it and Emilio and his company are the right people to call.

We were new to the area and they came recommended by our realtor. We needed a new roof and they came within our budget. There were a few hiccups when starting to take the original roof off but Richard was good in preparing us just in case. His crew was very pleasant and easy to work with. We were very impressed with the completion. In saying that we decided to use RG Construction for our RV pad and Driveway. Have yet to be disappointed!

I've used thumbtack for jobs here and there over the last few years. In my experience, the help has been a bit hit-and-miss. This was not the case with USA Roofing. They were great. Chris and his crew showed up and completed a roof repair for me. The price was very reasonable. He was able to fit my job into his schedule (I didn't have to wait). The entire crew was nice and I was comfortable having them working on my house. I hope I can get them out again when my house is ready for a new roof.

Balta is a very nice guy who knows all about roofs. He gave me a very reasonable estimate for fixing some bolts in my metal roof, waterproofing bad vents, and installing new gutters.. He works for himself so his prices are great. He also went out of his way to help me around the house with some other issues

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
