Lisa is a wonderful and inspiring trainer! She is an expert in her field, and I’m very pleased with her services and her guidance. I wish I found her sooner! I know that, with Lisa, it’s possible. Lisa has a special way of making the workouts fun so there’s never a dull moment. Not only does she have a deep understanding of the body and fitness, I feel that she really cares about me as a person and about my health. I came to Jaylen overweight and experiencing knee pain from an old high school volleyball injury. We trained for roughly six months together. At the end of the six months, I had lost 40 pounds. Jaylen is an excellent teacher and a great motivator. There were times when I felt like giving up, but he just wouldn’t quit on me. Most importantly, he created a lifestyle change within me. One that didn’t just center on health and fitness of the body, but that also cultivated a better mindset and a healthier outlook on life. I highly recommend using Jaylen as your personal trainer. It can change your life.
Chris is great! He really cares about people. The whole person. I feel really good about working with him. Betsy is awesome two. I can tell she's going to be a great trainer. I highly suggest Compact Health & Fitness!

I very highly recommend Sage Holistic's Mimi as a nutritionist and lifestyle counselor to anyone who wants effective advice for healthy living improvements. She suggested practical recipes that I could prepare for my small family, gave specific nutrition advise applicable to my particular situation, and via regular meetings helped me stay on track with implementing her suggestions for improved sleep, lowered stress, and a sensible approach to weight reduction. She did all this with a smile on her face and a helpful, authentically caring attitude. I am continuing to rely on her help to boost my health and energy.
I began training with Laura December 2017. I have been impressed by Laura’s work ethic and sincere desire to help her clients meet their goals. Laura never misses an appointment and is always on time. I like to know that I can rely on her to be there because that motivates me to never miss my appointments. Laura is very personable, not judgmental at all, and always in good spirits. Laura has helped with weight training and with my overall fitness and health. It has been so much fun! I have had my strength and muscle size increase more than ever before! It is so nice to have a personal trainer that takes a huge interest in your goals. Laura stays constantly focused on your whole training session. I love that she is always getting the next machine or weights ready so that we can jump into the next set. Laura makes every minute of training count. Having a personal trainer is a way of life to me now. If you are committed as much as she is, having Laura on your side as a personal trainer will reap big rewards for you.
For Life has been amazing. Alexa’s training as a coach has helped me progress my running and pushed me harder than I would have on my own.
I worked with Will from On Pace Wellness to manage some personal health issues that were going on. Not only did we manage to get the issues under control, my energy levels were enhanced and I was even sleeping better! I highly recommend Will for his professionalism, quick responses, and ability to guide someone through manageable changes.
243. The number flashed on the scale, staring me right in my bewildered face. I stepped off the scale, tapped it with my big toe, and stepped back on. 243. I stepped off the scale and shook my head in bewilderment. How did I let this happen? How did I slip this far? I had thought my face looked round mere moments ago in that family photo, but 243…this was a disaster. A disclaimer… I have struggled with my weight and body image my entire life. I am not, nor was I ever, the most athletic individual. I swam competitively for a number of years, and I took a number of dance classes in college, but athletic is an adjective I would never use to describe my physical ability. Back to 243... From that moment on, I made myself a promise. I would change. I would take my insecurities and confront them head on. I would become athletic. Bolstered by this determination, I began the tedious process of vetting a gym. At the time, I was working downtown at Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, so finding a gym close to work was crucial. After some preliminary online research, I grabbed my co-worker for moral support and trekked down the block to Gold’s Gym. Shannon, my fearless cohort, was already a member of Gold’s Gym and urged me to join after our tour of this gleaming tower of physical perfection. Needless to say, I signed on the dotted line. I was a member of a gym. It was time to shed the pounds and increase my self-determined self-worth. I adopted a new mantra: Your dreams only work if you do. The next day I had scheduled my free fitness assessment with someone named Brittany. I arrived, changed into my workout clothes, and checked in at the front desk, nervous, anxious, and ready to run out the door. Seconds later, I was greeted by a girl in a red trainer’s t-shirt with her name printed across her heart and black workout shorts. She stuck out her hand, shook mine, and took me upstairs to take my measurements and learn more about my fitness and personal goals. Little did I know that this fitness assessment would be more than just assessing my then lack of physicality. It would be the foundation and formation of a friendship and mutual support system. We clicked instantly. Brittany possessed the right amount of sass and drive to whip me into shape and encourage me every step of the way. Immediately after the assessment I signed up for three months of personal training, twice a week with Brittany. Fast-forward nine months later. I was strong. I was confident. I was athletic. Brittany had completely changed my life for the best. I was at my gym 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day before and after work, taking boot camp classes, swimming, lifting, and doing yoga. Brittany had taught me that physical fitness was more than just lifting weights, it was nutrition, it was mental health, it was finding an inner balance. She taught me that fitness is a journey, with twists and turns along the way. That we have good days and bad, and we can assess each as it comes and not stray from the goals ahead. She helped me realize my potential and pushed me to meet it. The moment I met Brittany my life changed. Through her friendship, she helped me discover that I could do anything I set my mind to. Your dreams only work if you do, so it’s time to keep working.
I love going to the maxhoops events. My favorite part about attending the events are interacting with other college coaches. I love how they are very blunt with you.m, and tell you want you can improve on.
I have been training with James for 3 years. Not only have I made great progress in my training, I have also learned a great deal about exercise and mobility. I highly recommend Primal Fitness to anyone wanting to make a change in their performance and overall health.
Shelly has been awesome! I have been working on lots of different things with her. I have high blood pressure, I have tons of digestion issues, I am overweight an have sleeping issues. Whoo thats a lot. But she is tackling each issue with patience and we are getting great results. All of the changes have been small but have made a big impact. In the past I have been overwhelmed by the amount of changes I need to make in order to get results but Shelly's approach is perfect for me. If your trying to change your health for the better through natural methods I would fully recommend working with Back to Basics.
Betsy is a great trainer, very caring, and incredibly encouraging. I enjoy our sessions and feel more comfortable with her than I have with people in the past. I feel like I'm with family. You won't regret joining and will wish you had sooner.
I came to Dan as a 40 something, life-long athlete, and mom of young twins thinking that I knew pretty much everything there was to know about how my body worked, and just what kind of conditioning I needed to keep my pants fitting… Turns out, I had A LOT to learn. And Dan had some serious work to do to dispel the deeply ingrained myths/thought patterns I had concocted over the years about what it truly means to be “in shape.” The short version of this review is that after years of working with multiple trainers, spending my life playing sports and running road races, I have honestly never had better results or more success. If you’re interested in the longer version, please read on. _____________________________________________________________ Myth One: All trainers are the same. Nope. Turns out Dan is actually unique. Not only is he well versed in training, healthy diets, and all around fitness, but his day job gives him a perspective about body mechanics unlike most. He has spent over a decade working in organ/tissue donation field, so literally knows what the human body looks like, and how it works from the inside out. So when things aren’t moving quite right, or you have a break down in form or ability, he is not only able to identify issues, but can propose solutions that actually resolve problems quickly. He listens closely to your goals and tailors training sessions to help shape individual results. Myth Two: You must “work-out” for a significant period of time with an elevated heart rate, i.e. lots of sweat to get results… (So if you don’t have at least an hour a day, why bother?) Nope. I’ve made more significant progress than at any other point of my training/athletic life… Including training for marathons. An hour with Dan is spent learning/practicing appropriate functional movement, training muscle groups (I didn’t even know I had) all the while improving cardio fitness and all around mobility. To be clear, you will for sure work hard with Dan, and you will absolutely break a sweat. But, the really “hard” part of a session with him is only 10-15 minutes, yet somehow strength, conditioning, endurance, and mobility continue to improve exponentially. Myth Three: I don’t need to be so worried about functional movement at this point in my life, I move just fine. Nope. Also not true. In our culture, the majority of us spend our waking hours in ergonomic positions that actually don’t help ensure mobility and function as we age. While not necessarily aware of it in the moment, you will find that Dan’s programs build functional strength and endurance that is applicable in everyday life. Whether you’re a parent chasing after small children, retired and spending time working on your favorite hobbies, or working in front of computer all day, after working with Dan you will suddenly find that lifting your bag of groceries, or standing up from your office chair is much easier, and fewer things “ache and pop.” Regardless of age, gender, body type, or athletic history, Dan tailors workouts to focus on individual form and everyday mobility with the overarching goal of minimizing any possibility of injury. Myth Four: I will never be able to do a pull up. While this myth is closer to the truth than the others, I’m certain I will be able to do at least one, someday. (Something I would have never said even a month ago). Dan is very kind and completely trustworthy- but simultaneously driven and goal oriented. You will find that he is encouraging and creates a completely safe environment for you to push your body further than you ever thought possible. He somehow “knows” what you are capable of long before you do… And in that kind, thoughtful, yet “I don’t take shit” kind of way, he will motivate you until you find that confidence and belief for yourself. Myth Five: Diet soda isn’t bad for you. Nope. It’s definitely not good. Under the misconception that at least I didn’t drink “the real” stuff, Dan convinced me to give up my daily diet coke. With promises that I would actually feel better, I reluctantly obliged. I discovered not only was he right about feeling better, but that my sense of accomplishment helped even more. The reality of training with Dan is that your mental health may actually benefit more than your physical health. Small successes are celebrated and congratulated, and set backs are viewed simply as an opportunity to approach things from a different perspective. Mental obstacles tend to be more daunting than anything physical, and not only is Dan aware of this, but specifically trains to this human characteristic. There is no way that you won’t find a ton of success working with Dan, and that you won’t leave a session feeling accomplished and proud of yourself.
