It's hard to find the right piano teacher. But when I found Emily I knew I needed to look no further. I have been taking piano lessons on and off 20 years and within the first few lessons she taught me elements of theory and artistry that I had never seen from a teacher. She is patient, thoughtful and an expert in her craft. She listens and selects pieces that are inspirational to my taste and builds a curriculum to my skill level (intermediate) and pushes me just enough to help me feel confident while still learning new skills.
I have been taking singing lessons with Alisdair and he is great! I've made significant progress in my singing, and his teaching technique is extremely effective, and is different to other vocal coaching I've received in the past. He is reliable, on-time, and was willing to start lessons right away.
When my 8 year old daughter told me the only thing she wanted for Christmas was guitar lessons, I began to shop around for options. We checked out a few local places and ended up having a really good intro meeting with Samantha from Portland Guitar Academy. Their experience, schedule, flexibility, and cost was just what I was looking for, and you could easily tell that Samantha would be fun to learn from. Lessons started from there and my daughter continues to be excited to go every week. Samantha has made it easy for her to learn, and has even adapted some of her favorite songs into chords that she can play along with. Samantha is so positive with my daughter that she continues to be motivated without me having to nag her to practice. I couldn't be happier with her progress, and am so glad we found Portland Guitar Academy!
Patient, intelligent, talented… Those are just three of the qualities that Maxime displays as a guitar teacher. I started taking guitar lessons from him last year and to be honest, at first I was somewhat concerned about taking music lessons over the Internet. But it’s worked out quite well. And although I am a beginning guitar player, I’m not an inexperienced music student. After undergraduate studies in music. I went to Juilliard on scholarship before going on to perform all over the world. Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, recording contract with Sony. Recorded at Abbey Rd. Studios with the London Philharmonic, PBS radio and TV performances with leading orchestras and opera companies and along the way more voice lessons than I can remember…. 😬 so if there’s one thing I’ve done a lot of it’s take private music lessons. From a lot of people. Some good, some bad, and some great. And I have no qualms about recommending Max to either a beginning or advanced guitar student. He does a great job and is very organized in his teaching. So if you’re thinking of taking lessons give him a try. I think you’ll be very happy. Did I mention that is also a really nice guy…? 😎 Les young
I started taking his piano lessons only about a month ago, but it''s been such a great joy to work with him. He constantly assesses my weaknesses and strengths, and plans my lessons accordingly. He also listens carefully to what I like and what I want to do, too. I live a bit far from his studio, but it's totally worth it. I highly recommend him!
When we arrived for the initial consultation for singing lessons and my daughter saw the piano, she asked if she could take piano lessons first. So, we're now taking piano lessons from Bonnie. I find her to work very well with kids, my daughter is 8, and my daughter likes her and is happy too. She explains things clearly, gives praise when earned, and is helpful and pleasant to work with.
Evan was my classical and blues guitar teacher for over a year. He is knowledgable and patient. I would recommend him strongly for guitar lessons (for adults or children)
I took piano lessons from Geoff 2 years ago and unfortunately due to financial issues had to quit. For the months that I was able to be taught by him, I loved how patient he was with me as well as the materials he gave me. I would definitely return to him if I was able to do so in the future
Helen, was AMAZING, she taught my 6 yr daughter her first piano lesson. We were going to try out a few different teachers, but after meeting her, I have no interest going anywhere else. Thank you for being so friendly and so talented! <3 A few things that were important to me were, 1. She could connect with my 6 year old. 2. That she could teach syllabus. 3. That she has opportunities for her students to perform during the year. She met all three of those. :)
Well trained, experienced, friendly. Makes the guitar learning fun.
I have had three guitar lessons with Cameron and have found him to be extremely knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and positive. As a beginner guitar student I would highly recommend him if you've toyed with the idea of learning but have been intimidated or put it off for any other reason. Cameron presents the information/exercises in just the right amounts for me thereby preventing frustration with the material and instead increasing my confidence and enjoyment.
My son enjoyed having his piano lesson with geoff he said he is a great teach and cant wait to have another lesson
When I was 16 I took guitar beginner guitar lessons with Elisa and absolutely loved it! I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a music teacher. She was and is very supportive of my dream in music.
Austin is a fantastic guitar instructor. He is patient with students and produces results. My son went from a beginner to an intermediate within a few months. Hire him!
Mitch is great at doing any overhauls or repairs on my instrument. I am always very happy with the result.

I offer bass guitar and guitar lessons. I teach bass guitar lessons and beginning guitar. I try to teach in a very basic way to get students playing as soon as possible, or if I'm teaching a more advanced student on how to achieve their next level of playing. I'm nice and simple.
Music lessons for all ages in classical, blues, jazz, and popular music styles are offered by professional musicians with degrees in music and teaching experience. We have lessons for guitar, ukelele, piano, bass, and drums. Students have the opportunity to perform in student recitals, which are great for students to showcase their skills and gain confidence in themselves. Parents really love it!
I offer guitar/piano lessons. I have 26 years of experience in the industry. I'm trained and perform in multiple styles of music. Referrals are available upon request.
Whether a student is 5 years old or 80, I believe everyone can benefit greatly from learning the fundamentals of music, coupled with even the most elementary music theory concepts. If you are a new student, the first thing you may want to ask yourself is whether you have a specific goal. Do you want to learn rock, jazz, classical, or blues, or all of them? We can do that! Do you want to learn to read music? Or, is tablature notation enough for your needs? We can do either or both. Are you interested in writing your own music and learning how different styles of music are constructed using music theory? We can do that too. It all depends on where you want to go as a musician. For more advanced students, we may work on anything from altered chords and jazz solos to advanced rock techniques (sweep arpeggios, exotic scales, etc.) and odd time signatures or advanced theory. For beginning students, I like to concentrate on technique during the first few lessons in order to develop good habits. This includes posture (how to properly sit and hold guitar), left-hand technique (how to best place fingers for chording as well as single notes), and right-hand technique (how to hold the pick and perform picking patterns). The student's technique will be honed through various picking exercises as well as basic chord progressions, scales, and songs. Of course, during this time, we will work together to find the best path to meet your music goals!
I am an extremely patient player who loves to share the great gift of music to all those who wish to learn.
