It's hard to find the right piano teacher. But when I found Emily I knew I needed to look no further. I have been taking piano lessons on and off 20 years and within the first few lessons she taught me elements of theory and artistry that I had never seen from a teacher. She is patient, thoughtful and an expert in her craft. She listens and selects pieces that are inspirational to my taste and builds a curriculum to my skill level (intermediate) and pushes me just enough to help me feel confident while still learning new skills.
I have been taking singing lessons with Alisdair and he is great! I've made significant progress in my singing, and his teaching technique is extremely effective, and is different to other vocal coaching I've received in the past. He is reliable, on-time, and was willing to start lessons right away.
When my 8 year old daughter told me the only thing she wanted for Christmas was guitar lessons, I began to shop around for options. We checked out a few local places and ended up having a really good intro meeting with Samantha from Portland Guitar Academy. Their experience, schedule, flexibility, and cost was just what I was looking for, and you could easily tell that Samantha would be fun to learn from. Lessons started from there and my daughter continues to be excited to go every week. Samantha has made it easy for her to learn, and has even adapted some of her favorite songs into chords that she can play along with. Samantha is so positive with my daughter that she continues to be motivated without me having to nag her to practice. I couldn't be happier with her progress, and am so glad we found Portland Guitar Academy!
Patient, intelligent, talented… Those are just three of the qualities that Maxime displays as a guitar teacher. I started taking guitar lessons from him last year and to be honest, at first I was somewhat concerned about taking music lessons over the Internet. But it’s worked out quite well. And although I am a beginning guitar player, I’m not an inexperienced music student. After undergraduate studies in music. I went to Juilliard on scholarship before going on to perform all over the world. Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, recording contract with Sony. Recorded at Abbey Rd. Studios with the London Philharmonic, PBS radio and TV performances with leading orchestras and opera companies and along the way more voice lessons than I can remember…. 😬 so if there’s one thing I’ve done a lot of it’s take private music lessons. From a lot of people. Some good, some bad, and some great. And I have no qualms about recommending Max to either a beginning or advanced guitar student. He does a great job and is very organized in his teaching. So if you’re thinking of taking lessons give him a try. I think you’ll be very happy. Did I mention that is also a really nice guy…? 😎 Les young
I started taking his piano lessons only about a month ago, but it''s been such a great joy to work with him. He constantly assesses my weaknesses and strengths, and plans my lessons accordingly. He also listens carefully to what I like and what I want to do, too. I live a bit far from his studio, but it's totally worth it. I highly recommend him!
When we arrived for the initial consultation for singing lessons and my daughter saw the piano, she asked if she could take piano lessons first. So, we're now taking piano lessons from Bonnie. I find her to work very well with kids, my daughter is 8, and my daughter likes her and is happy too. She explains things clearly, gives praise when earned, and is helpful and pleasant to work with.
Evan was my classical and blues guitar teacher for over a year. He is knowledgable and patient. I would recommend him strongly for guitar lessons (for adults or children)
I took piano lessons from Geoff 2 years ago and unfortunately due to financial issues had to quit. For the months that I was able to be taught by him, I loved how patient he was with me as well as the materials he gave me. I would definitely return to him if I was able to do so in the future
Helen, was AMAZING, she taught my 6 yr daughter her first piano lesson. We were going to try out a few different teachers, but after meeting her, I have no interest going anywhere else. Thank you for being so friendly and so talented! <3 A few things that were important to me were, 1. She could connect with my 6 year old. 2. That she could teach syllabus. 3. That she has opportunities for her students to perform during the year. She met all three of those. :)
Attila was great with my 8 year old. He is very patient, was able to teach some basic guitar concepts, and gave reasonable homework for the time between lessons. We've only had one lesson so far, but my son is excited to learn more!
If you’re looking for a unique approach to learning bass or guitar, then New Verse is where it’s at. Cameron is an excellent teacher through and through; professional, knowledgeable, articulate and always centered on the student having fun throughout their musical journey. The special thing about lessons with Cameron is that songs are decided based on the student’s choosing, meaning you can either request songs that you vibe to or you can select songs that are already in his collection, which is great for exposing you to music that might be outside of your normal realm. Through these songs you’ll learn everything from playing techniques to musical composition to tidbits on theory. Cameron does an amazing job at explaining why things are the way they are in music and if you’re keen on learning more about theory he’s a great conversationalist for doing so, which will 100% heighten your understanding. Aside from learning about music itself, he will also guide you on practicing methods so you can improve your performance on your own time. Although I began my initial bass lessons with a choppy background in reading music and comprehending theory - not to mention rusty on playing techniques - it’s thanks to Cameron’s distinctive teaching style that my world has been opened to music in a whole new way.
Bass lessons from a man who does it from a fundemental starting point. Straight forward and knowledgeable. Love it!
When I was 16 I took guitar beginner guitar lessons with Elisa and absolutely loved it! I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a music teacher. She was and is very supportive of my dream in music.
Haven't started lessons yet, but he is super responsive and friendly.
Mitch is great at doing any overhauls or repairs on my instrument. I am always very happy with the result.

I offer bass guitar and guitar lessons. I teach bass guitar lessons and beginning guitar. I try to teach in a very basic way to get students playing as soon as possible, or if I'm teaching a more advanced student on how to achieve their next level of playing. I'm nice and simple.
Music lessons for all ages in classical, blues, jazz, and popular music styles are offered by professional musicians with degrees in music and teaching experience. We have lessons for guitar, ukelele, piano, bass, and drums. Students have the opportunity to perform in student recitals, which are great for students to showcase their skills and gain confidence in themselves. Parents really love it!
I offer guitar/piano lessons. I have 26 years of experience in the industry. I'm trained and perform in multiple styles of music. Referrals are available upon request.
I am an extremely patient player who loves to share the great gift of music to all those who wish to learn.
For the past 20 years, I have been developing my craft as a musician. I have been formally trained in voice, piano, drums, and guitar. During college, many people approached me and asked if I would teach their daughter or son guitar. I naturally became a guitar teacher. Many of my guitar students have gone on to create their own original songs. With my experience of writing over 100 songs for many different genres, I am able to draw out the songwriting abilities of my students. Outside of teaching, I have been the music director of a church, written music for film producers, and performed all around North America. I look forward to helping you or your child learn guitar.
