Emmer has been my daughter's sewing teacher for six years. Emmer is a very accomplished seamstress and quilter. She teaches a wide variety of skills. She's very reliable and knowledgeable. She is great at teaching both children and adults and makes the lessons fun. My daughter actually won Jr. Textile division at the county fair thanks to her lessons with Emmer. My daughter has learned so much, and I would highly recommend her.
Heather T. is super rad. I’m so grateful to have connected with her for Sewing lessons. Her kindness and patience, as she calmly guides me through the learning process, makes the experience comfortable and fun. She’s generous with her knowledge, and encouraging of my goals and potential. All that, combined with the personalized lessons, makes it feel more like a mentorship. Aces!
Kathie definitely was great to work with. A friend who's been living over seas asked me to start seeking custom made handkerchiefs as wedding gifts for parents, and we definitely found what we were looking for! Kathie was able to produce 3 separate pieces for a very fair price, and the parents loved them. The mother of the bride even cried when she got hers, she loved it!
Christine is delightful and knows so much about sewing. I'm so glad I found her!
I took 12 hours of beginning sewing lessons with HB and loved her patience and professionalism. Each class she supplied the materials needed (sewing machine, babylock machine thread, muslin fabric, iron etc) which was beyond what I expected. She also brought in helpful books and answered any questions I had by researching the answer if she had to. Classes were fun because she's personable and treats you like a friend rather than just a student. She's very knowledgeable about the industry of fashion where she speaks from work experience. She's also punctual and sweet. I really felt I got a solid understanding of sewing my first dress with her and feel I've gained a local fashion buddy in the meantime.
Maria is incredible! She's a great seamstress, but she's also particularly good at assisting in the development of a design. She does everything from pattern making to partnering with you to solve a design issue, or helping you to learn a new sewing technique yourself. I worked with her while she lived in SF, and have yet to find someone as good as her now that she's moved.
You can sew. Here is where you start. The first class for teens and adults who have never sewn or need a basics refresher. We will cover sewing machine basics--majors parts, threading, bobbin use, simple maintenance and operation. You will learn about seam allowance, to stitch straight, back tack, turn corners, pressing and to trouble shoot threading issues. Leave with a completed project: a quilted, ziptop pouch. All supplies for this class are provided by the lounge. Use one of our machines or bring your own if you want to learn it, specifically. Serves as the prerequisite for Adult Beginning Sewing I. Class is 3 hours/ $35.
