Prompt response from Thumbtack, to dog trainers and the one I've booked with, Critters, seems to be first rate. We haven't had our first session yet so will respond later. but happy to have found this trainer through your service.
After our German Shepherd puppy attacked the neighbors dog we decided enough was enough and found Cynthia through Thumbtack. After talking with Cynthia we decided to leave our boy with her for 2 weeks of boarding school. It was a night and day difference. He still has some aggressive issues but we're working through that with additional training and socialization. Dog training isn't just for the dog, it's for the owner as well. We try to meet with Cynthia 3-4 times a month. I recommend the two week boarding/training and then follow up sessions.
We have experienced many dog / dog owner trainers over the years; Jana is our favorite. She understands dogs; she understands the dog | human interface. She is pleasant, professional, and flexible.
We took ownership of a 2yr old rescue dog from TX (we live in Oregon). While he is a great dog he was only house broken, crate trained, and only half of the time responded to sit commands. We looked up personal dog trainers on Thumbtack and Trish responded almost immediately. She let her experience, clientele reviews, and videos do the talking. There was no sales pitch or "guilt trip" to use her service. Noah is now coming up on lesson 4 next week of the basic obedience training. Trish has been amazing in both working with Noah and us! Her training method is awesome and one I'd recommend to anyone. We've had such a positive and awesome experience we will be coming back for some of the more advanced classes later. You cannot go wrong using Trish and Off Leash K9 training. In 4 lessons Noah went from an awesome over energy and bad habit pet to an obedient, fun loving, and wanting to learn family member. I feel that you should get what you pay for. And we 110% received the training we were hoping to get. Thank you to Trish and Off Leash K9 Training!
Molly Wong came today and after just an hour and a half I knew she was the perfect trainer. Our dog responded very quickly and we learned so much that we can immediately put into our daily routine. I'm very grateful.
I hired Rob end of last summer for my 4 month old lab...everything we learned with Rob has worked great. Porter completely listens to the magic word and he reacts with no hesitation. I highly recommend Rob to train your pup!!
Very professional and knowledgeable of all dog breeds and the training they require. Rebecca has years of experience and is also very responsive and reasonably priced for training.
Our experience working with Jamie to help train our dogs has been excellent. She involves the entire family and worked very well helping our kids work with the dogs. Her approach and techniques have been very effective with our dogs, especially our rescue. We highly recommend Jamie for any dog training assistance and will continue to have her work with our family for future dog training.
Jeff is a wonderful trainer. He honestly cares about the success of our dog Dave and has been extremely helpful. He is flexible in availability for our training sessions, which works well for our schedules. The thing that I like the most is that Jeff has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help us understand our dog's behavior and how to care for him; he even helped us find recommendations for pet insurance. I would definitely recommend Jeff to anybody I know that is in need of dog training!
Risa is a lover of dogs and dog lovers. She has worked with my daughter for over a year with a rescue dog, Lexie. Risa has been patient in the training--she does not move on if more work is needed in a particular area, either on behalf of the dog or the owner. We have appreciated her work with us, and Lexie is a much more pleasant part of our family now. Risa also has a heart for pairing folks with disabilities with therapy dogs. Training and therapy dogs--Risa at George and Friends is THE Go-To Person!
Such a caring person. She taught me a lot in just one session - I am glad some trainers out there have an understanding of dogs and don't just follow what is the most popular training method. Very versatile trainer! Thanks again, Brenda H.
Gail worked on several of our dogs - from our competition agility dogs to our old, retired agility dogs, and all of our dogs love Gail! She is works well with dogs that are easy and difficult and works at the pace that each dog needs. One of our dogs thinks massage is the best thing ever and would simple relax the minute Gail touched him. Our 5 year Pap has difficulty relaxing and Gail started very slow with short massage sessions until he was actually relaxing and enjoying them. Our old (13 and 14 year olds) loved when Gail worked them and we believe that with her help it has improved and extended their lives. My dogs love Gail and so do we!
Fabulous trainer. I hired multiple other trainers before finding her. My dogs seem like different dogs.
I was looking for advanced obedience for me and my dog. Youngblood thought me so much on how to handle my dog and not to give up. A few times he would tell me to do something a certain way and I would think "ok he's full of it, this won't work". Every time I was proven wrong. He's the only trainer that I trust 100%. My dog and I have come a long way thanks to him.
Bringing our Shiba inu to Holly was the best thing we ever did. We were at our wits end and didn't know what to do with her aggression. Holly took her in and treated her like her own with love and she has never been better! She listens, places, sits, comes, everything. We can have her around company and finally a real part of our family. Wouldn't have made it without Holly. She kept is updated and assured that she was greatly cared for when we did to want to let her go, well my boyfriend. :) best trainer out there! Do what's best for your family!!
We were very lucky in having Cayla for a trainer. Tanner is a very big, stubborn dog, and not easy to control. If we ever encounter a problem these days, we always go back to the training and ask ourselves, "what would Cayla tell us to do?" By following her instructions, it has been the only way we can control our hyper, strong headed dog. Cayla’s guidance, instruction and teachings are invaluable to us and vital to our success with Tanner. We strongly recommend her.
We are committed to using positive, rewards-based training methods to help dog owners build healthy relationships with their canine family members. From puppy kindergarten and basic skill building courses to agility and trick training, we offer a variety of classes and seminars year-round in a heated, indoor facility. All classes are taught by a certified pet dog trainer, and class sizes are kept small to ensure personalized attention.
I will pet sit, train your canine in basic manners and obedience, etc. I walk dogs, clean them up (nails, teeth, coat, ears), etc. I have a service dog in training, a retired service dog. I've studied training for years. I love animals.
In my conversations with dog owners, I find that evaluating good recall in a dog seems to be fairly subjective. Contrary to what many dogs owners think, recalling a dog that has just run upstairs at home where there are relatively few novel distractions is not really considered a good test of recall. Professional dog trainers rely on more stringent measures and more rigorous tests. For example, developing good recall means that you can recall your dog at the dog park 9 out of 10 times when the dog is engaged with other dogs and at a fair distance. Recall is a life saving cue or command, beyond just a convenient behavior. Dog Trainer Dude focuses on basic obedience and, particularly, behaviors that ensure safety and adhere to proper dog behavior etiquette out in public in urban areas, such as recall (coming on command). Most of my clients come to me after discovering that the behaviors taught to their dog with the assistance of conventional training methods are unsustainable. I correct unwanted behaviors like inappropriate and unsolicited jumping on owners and strangers. I work on the sit-stay command requiring the dog to hold for more than just a few seconds. In other words, I polish off the kinds of things you thought you were going to be sustainable, but have proven not to be. I also work on shaping new behaviors and addressing more complex problem behaviors that result from environmental constraints or limited socialization.
I do basic and advanced dog obedience training. I offer behavior modification, dog hiking and dog sitting. I also do AKC confirmation and obedience handling and training.
I want more than anything for people to enjoy their relationship with their dog to the fullest...and this requires that they can trust their dog to respond to them under all situations and circumstances. Happy dog..happy,happy owner!!
