Jason Trammell is a very good personal trainer. I am 59 years old and have Spastic/Dystonic Cerebral Palsy. When I went on Thumbtack to find a trainer (I did say I had Cerebral Palsy), Jason was the only one to reply. Most personal trainers would not know how to work with me, but Jason stepped up to the challenge. I have been work with Jason for over 6 months. Once I talked with him about how my disability affected my muscle movements and balance, he figured out the best way in which to work with me. That said, He doesn’t treat me with “kid gloves”, instead he pushes me to my limit and sometimes beyond. When I feel like can’t do something, he gets me to try and usually he is right. This technique helps by reducing my limits and building my strength. I do need to say that I always feel safe that I will not fall or get hurt, because Jason is always close by to make sure that doesn’t happen! Most people hire trainers for weight loss. I was 10 pounds underweight. Jason made up a food schedule for me and is constantly bugging me about eating more, now I’m only 5 pounds underweight. Strength training is so very important for people, especially woman, over 45 whether or not you have a disability. Working out with Jason will keep me from needing to use a wheelchair or scooter for many years to come, as well as keep me independent in my own home and doing all the regular things everyone else can do. Finally, Jason’s prices are very reasonable. if you look up the cost of joining a gym and having a personal trainer 3-times a week, you will probably be paying twice as much! After struggling with soft tissue injuries for over a year( including slipped discs, and pinched  sacral nerves from an auto accident and surgery ) & lack of motivation and determination.I knew it was time to step up my game and seek out someone who could push me and get me out of this "plateau" that i had reached. Make no doubt about it, Turk is hands down the best personal trainer you'll find. Most personal trainers these days have no knowledge whatsoever about what they're talking about. On top of it half the trainers I see sit around texting on their phone while they're supposed to be training you. Turk is the opposite! Turk is in your face and motivating you like a trainer should be. His training principals have roots with the best of the best (i.e. Dorian Yates) and will give you a workout you won't soon forget. I honestly can't say enough good things about Turk. One thing I can say for sure is that if I was a millionaire I would literally hire Turk as my full time trainer and give him a million a year just to follow me around wherever I went and train me, he's THAT good! Whether your goal is weight loss, competing, contest prep, or you just need someone to give you a good meal plan, Turk is THE MAN! Also, females need not be intimidated, Turk has trained some of the best female figure competitors out there so he knows what he is doing. Give Turk a shot! I promise you that just ONE training session with Turk will convince you that he is a cut above any other trainer out there. What are you waiting for!?

Turk is a very experienced trainer. He is patient and very knowledgeable. People who stick with him will definitely achieve their goals. My goal is to bulk up. When I started training with him, I was 150 pound. I was skinny and a hard gainer. Now I weigh 165 with pretty decent muscles. Those 30 pound gain is not fat but almost pure muscle gain. I am a chemistry graduate student . I always ask him about what this exercise does since I have un-naturally high curiosity. He is always patient and takes his time explaining things in detail with me. I am really glad that I found him. he is way better than regular trainers from 24 fitness, LaFitness, and etc. The only thing I wish more is that I could gain more. But like I said, I am a very hard gainer. I am happy that I gained 15 pounds of lean muscle over 1 year. So if I can do it with my disadvantaged body type, you can definitely achieve your goal way faster with him training you.

Three trainers responded to my search, close to the same price per hour. I responded to each stating "Thank you but I find I cannot afford a trainer." Rebecca responded by asking me to check out her website as she has different programs and prices. I was able to afford one of her programs. She comes to my home and has customized a meal plan and exercize program to my diet restrictions and injured knee. We are two weeks in and I feel stronger and have lost 10 lbs as well.

Dahn is a great trainer. Very energetic, positive and a super motivator. What I think was the best feature, however, is that Dahn is very aware of how to avoid ANY KIND of injury. Oh sure, I was sore after a couple of workouts, but it was a good sore that comes from working hard. I had no joint pain or or soreness from a bad move. Dahan really watches out for that issue. Overall, I'd definitely seek Dahn out as a trainer or instructor.

I hired Lisa for a ten-session personal training package in my home, to kick-start my fitness journey after an extended illness. My experience with her has been wonderful. Lisa shows up on time and gets right to the warmup and work out. I set up some personal parameters that I wanted to work within, and she has designed our sessions within those. She is friendly, encouraging, and makes the workouts fun. She watches for form to prevent injury and gives tips on what to be cautious of to stay safe in different moves. Lisa was awesome! I purchased several sessions with her as a gift for my parents for Christmas and they have been so happy with her as a trainer. She has made them feel very comfortable, listened to what they were wanting out of their sessions, and really helped them get back on track with their exercise. I have been a patient of Corey Walden’s for approximately 3 years. I work out at the same gym where Corey trains and works with clients. When I first heard about the whole NKT stuff, I was skeptical. However, I had tennis elbow that was really affecting my workouts. My trainer recommended speaking to Corey, and about 5 minutes later my tennis elbow was remarkably better. Soon, after faithfully performing the exercises he gave me, my tennis elbow was completely healed. What is most impressive, however, is how Corey helped my headaches. I have suffered from headaches since I was about 10 years old. When I got to my late forties, the headaches occurred about 5 days a week, and sometimes I would go a month with a headache. I went to just about every neurologist in Portland, and to experts in other parts of the country. Tests, drugs, experimental medications; nothing worked. After working with Corey for a year, I became almost completely headache free. I cannot speak to anyone else’s results or to what extent Corey may or may not be able to help others; all I can say is after 50 years of almost constant headaches, thousands and thousands of dollars, many many tests, and every drug in the spectrum, seeing Corey got rid of my headaches. I sought out personal training on the recommendation of my physical therapist. The goal was to continue strengthening exercises to improve the condition of my injured ankle and problematic knees. I have to admit, I was terrified to start working with a personal trainer... I was obese, out of shape, and feared that I would be judged. Then I stumbled across Corey at Thrive Body Balance and realized I had nothing to fear. He was very welcoming and willing to work with me unconditionally and without judgment. I have worked with Corey for the past three months. I originally sought him out for fitness and weight loss but with the initial diagnostic tests discovered several postural issues that needed correction. Charles is far more knowledgeable than I ever expected from a "trainer." He knows exactly how to correct little posture or movements to affect the correct muscles that need to be "exercised." In particular, he has worked on my neck, shoulder area, along with various core areas that have resulted in improve movement and strength. More importantly, he is watchful and attentive to all my movements (never leaves my side during my hour long workouts) to answer texts, phones, etc. I enjoy is occasional hands-on to show me which muscles I need to pay attention to while using the various equipment and stretching motions.

When I first met Jaylen I was intimidated by him. He's huge, so naturally I thought he'd just make me huge. After doing some fitness assessments though, Jaylen wrote the most perfect fitness routine for me that was specifically designed to get me where I needed to go. A great trainer will guide you, get you on the right path, then let you go. In my opinion, I think that's a great way to keep people coming back. Don't get me wrong; I still get personal training sessions from time to time, because a person needs reassessment from time to time. If you hire someone as in tune physically, mentally and educationally, as Jaylen is, you get the very best deal out of anyone. If you go to corporate gyms, hire trainers there that are forced to just sell training sessions, you don't get a decent anything. You get someone just going through the notions, because they aren't getting paid properly. You'll either wind up getting hurt, or buying too many sessions without seeing any results. I may come off as biased, but that's only because I know from my own personal experiences what having someone like Jaylen supporting me is like. I can guarantee if you go through with hiring him as your trainer, you will be making the right steps to your personal goals.

So I have worked with 3 personal trainers all right after each other. Out of all 3 I felt 2 were knowledgeable about what workouts were good and would be most effective for my body. Jaylen Eason was one of those 2. However, the one thing that put him at the top of those three, was his professionalism. Smooth way of telling me what I need to eat to help the workouts and weight loss and muscle gain. He always had workouts prepared before my scheduled time. He knew what we were going to do before I arrived so it gave me every minute of my paid time to focus on the workout and not the planning. When we worked out he focused on form to ensure injury reduction and getting the most out of each workout. During my workouts he would push me with encouraging words and not be off doing something else or watching or talking to someone else in the gym like some trainers do. He was 100%focused on me, his client. When finished, he would give friendly reminders of what my homework was and parted with a smile and encouraging feedback. I had a great experience strength training with Jaylen. I saw him twice a week over the course of 3 months to help strengthen/rehab a snowboard knee injury that had me out for about 3 months prior to meeting him. He helped me achieve my goals and exceed my expectations on many levels. He was more than able to lay out a plan for each session and was very receptive to input as to what worked and what didn't. Nathan is a great trainer, over the past 14 months he's helped me recover from spinal surgery, gain mobility and strength. As a certified dive master he's great with instruction, understanding limits, working healthy and all around a nice guy. 5 months ago we set a new goal for me to increase my body weight and overall strength. He helped me gain 20# in lean muscle and increase my one rep max on average by 25% in my bench press, squat, deadlift. All in 4-5 months!! I've been a runner for years and the wear and tear on my knees and lower back haven't helped. Amy started me with simple stretches and core work that I could do at home as well. Weights increase slowly; I never left a training feeling too worn down, but rather energized. I eventually got stronger and more confident in doing things like pushups (which I always sucked at!). The best thing was the work I did with Amy helped heal a longtime ache I had in my leg since having my daughter 10 years ago. Amy is super cheerful, focused and full of conversation; every time I work with her, I leave thinking "time goes by so fast with her! I just worked out for an hour and didn't even feel like it was that long!" Highly recommend Amy!

Hiring a personal trainer can be intimidating. Hiring a personal trainer when you're a large, out of shape, middle aged woman can be down right nerve wracking. I was fortunate to find James a couple years ago after deciding I'd had enough of feeling weak and off balance. Trusting him with my fitness was the best decision I've made in a long time. He is patient. He knows his stuff and all he ever wants is for me to do my best and improve. I've been to trainers who tried to sell me supplements or tried to put me on diets to lose weight. They never asked me what *I* wanted. That was the first thing James asked me. He's the best.

Looking for a personal trainer in Portland. I travel to Portland every week, have been doing that for the past 4+ months. I try to workout a few times a week but slip/get lazy once in a while. I am looking for a personal trainer to provide 1 on 1 fitness training. My goals are to loose, weight and strengthen my body. I am not looking to build a huge muscle mass but would like to concentrate on looking and feeling fit. Am in OK shape but would like to get better.
