Glenn was originally hired for a plumbing job to finish up some remodel work on our kitchen. We are avid DIY'ers and ended up tackling the job ourselves. We also had other appliance installs we didn't get to including some hvac hookup, wiring etc.. Glenn was flexible on the types of projects, happy to help with whatever we needed, easy to work with, resourceful and creative in solving the problems that came up as they always do with remodel work. He also re-did our plumbing job to make it better; quickly. We could not have done all this in the time we did without him. We were able to accomplish everything we needed with his help. He spend more time than we had requested even though he had another job to get to. He is not the cheapest, but well worth his rates and less than had we hired journeyman professionals in each individual area. I would add that he is reasonably priced, and for us at the end he altered his quoted price to less than the original based on the scope of projects we had him do. It made it easier to give him a bit extra which he deserved for the hours he spent! As an added note to his professionalism, he responded to each email through thumbtack immediately, of which I sent several, and he arrived early to our scheduled appointment time. I would definitely call him in the future.

Services provided were electrical in nature: change all light switches & outlet plugs; install new closet light; install new basement lights on existing circuit; install new dedicated light switch for additional kitchen light and so on. Additionally, he helped repair and re-install door handles and locks in a 2925 craftsman bungalow. Work was done professionally, methodically and efficiently. Prompt, good communication and a pleasure to work with. Will use again for future projects

I asked Chris Wilhelm of Compass Home Repair and Renovation to install a utility sink in my basement. I had recently done a renovation restoring a bedroom, bathroom suite along with adding a washer and dryer for a a tenant. I didn't think about a utility sink, as part of that renovation which is a useful thing to have for larger and dirty clean-up projects. I only had a sink. There was no drain, no spigot or faucets. He dropped by my home to get an idea of the job's specifics and returned a week later. Chris installed the sink with a few hiccups along the way (such as trying to figure out how to turn off the water--not his fault--the recent plumbing was unlike anything he'd ever encountered. The sink works beautifully, and he integrated it next to the washer/dryer without taking up any additional space in this storage area. Best of all is the hose attachment, which insures that hard-to-reach spaces can be reached without effort. I've already hired Chris to do some restoration of my porch steps, which is due to be done this Saturday.

I bought a fancy Toto ltoilet because I had experienced it in a five star hotel in Vegas. I hired Keenie to install. It turned out that the install was as complicated as the toilet is fancy. Keenie never hesitated, took the double time to do the job, including buying drill bits, throwing in a new gasket and doing a thorough, professional, and complete job. I would (will) hire Keenie for any job. He's terrific.

I hired Best Price Plumbing to install my faucet and connect my newly installed kitchen sink to the garbage disposal, supply lines, dishwasher, and drain. He did a good job installing everything and showed up exactly when he said he would. I feel that it was reasonably priced.

Matt and beau are phenomenal and honest plumbers. They gave me a bid that was very reasonable and competitive as the others on thumbtack. I had them install my new faucet , disposal, dishwasher , and create a waterline underneath the house to the refrigerator . They were prompt and always on time beau did a great job with the plumbing install . My dishwasher didn't work because it wasn't plugged in. Matt came out the very next day to hook up the electrical to the dishwasher .... As well as rechecked all the plumbing to ensure no leaks. Thanks beau and Matt! Will definitely call you for my next plumbing needs Joe p.

I hired Chimcare to sweep three chimneys and quote repair/rebuild of the chimney atop my new/old house. They were courteous and professional and after inspection let me know that only one if the chimneys was in need of cleaning. Great tips on using the fireplaces and answered all my questions! This was my first time ever on Thumbtack, needed a dryer repair, had ordered some likely parts from Amazon to replace, and just thought I needed somebody to open up the dryer, replace them and voila. Tracy's quote was very reasonable, and he came quickly. When opening up the dryer, we found out two different parts were actually damaged, while the ones I got were not needed. I had to order another part, and he came back on a Sunday to finish the job. Then he did some extra checking regarding our vent which was clogged, and discovered the exit pipe on the outside had been blocked, explaining the overheating issue. Thanks to his thoroughness, my dryer will probably last longer. In short, Tracy is very professional, courteous, has attention to detail, and has great rates. I would personally recommend him for any appliance repair project.

C&j came out this morning(a Saturday)to repair my Samsung dryer.I was quoted $350.00 by the cheapest place in this area and c&j did the job for $125.00 less than competitors and even did it on a Saturday.i was told by several companies that just a call out on a weekend is over $150.00..plus parts and labor.I would recommend C&J to anyone that needs appliance repair.I live in portland and they came from longview.Very nice and funny too.One time I had an appliance guy and he didnt even talk.Clarence is the best.

The workers did a excellent job, doing a no seam installation. They also did our kitchen floor, which had some very tight spaces to work in, also with no seams.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
