We looked at a space that needed to be demolished and rebuilt for our physical therapy practice. We asked Hiro to design the new space. He listened to our requirements and began right away as we had a tight timeline.
Hiro's design was accepted by the building manager. Once completed we discovered how well the design worked for our clinic with four practitioners and two office staff.
We enjoy a workable exercise area, a comfortable staff room, four therapist offices, front desk area, waiting room and another office manager office.
It was a difficult area to work with as part of it was under some concrete stairs.
Hiro's design has been complemented many times by patients who were with us before our move.

We are in the process of remodeling our 1908 bungalow in Oakland, CA. The house has gone through various unfortunate design choices and shoddy workmanship. This (combined with the desire to insulate and rewire) has prompted us to perform more of a gut remodel. We had general ideas of what we wanted to accomplish with the project, but we had trouble synthesizing our ideas and updating the floor plan to make it more logical, especially in our kitchen (which is important because we love to cook).
We turned to our friend Hiroki Abe for help and have no regrets. He has generated plans for the house, and performed a variety of design iterations, providing suggestions to maintain existing good features while coming up with great ideas to improve the difficult aspects of the house. He designs in revit, which allowed him to easily show us different views/angles from the interior of the home. This added perspective was very helpful compared to just a floor plan to help us understand how a space would look.
Hiroki seems influenced by simple, clean designs (and his serious cooking skills!). His design for our bungalow has nicely blended appropriate modern touches but our goal to maintain the feel of the bungalow is intact.
The design work has been hampered by our pace making decisions, but Hiroki has kept the process moving and in 3 months we now have a set of drawings that is a serious improvement on our original plans, and is ready for permitting and bidding work with our contractor. We will definitely keep Hiroki involved throughout the construction process. Please feel free to contact us for a reference if needed, or to look at our design.
