FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will chat by phone (or FaceTime / Skype) and discuss what your needs are for your particular event. I will soon have a studio that we can meet face-to-face in, and go over music selections if desired. I'm happy to learn new material (favorite songs, classical pieces, etc.), given enough time to master them before the event. If it's a wedding, I'll be sure we've covered the bases: Processional, Recessional, etc. I pride myself on being reliable and easy to work with.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors degree in Classical Piano Performance and studied privately with a pupil of the renowned concert pianist, Claudio Arrau. I have also taken private jazz lessons and studied voice with several teachers. I'm one of the lucky ones who can both read music well and play by ear.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up in a small town and started to accompany school choirs as early as third grade. I went on to join rock and jazz bands, and to accompany singers and dance classes. If I remember correctly, I played my first wedding in eighth grade. There weren't a whole lot of piano players in my small town, so my experience and exposure were well-rounded from an early age.
