- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started editing in high school to help my friends pass their classes. The ethical dilemma involved was lost on me at the time. I just wanted to help my friends. In college, I started tutoring other students and started running the school's newspaper. That quickly became a full-time job. After college, I worked freelance in journalism and started my own educational blog series. I now work full-time as an in-house copy-editor/copywriter.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Typically, my job is to read scripts or manuscripts and give notes. Every manuscript I receive will be annotated and that will be handed back to the client. I will also write a report expounding on my annotations as well as general story structure. We can cover more specific areas if you ask ahead of time. I like having one-on-one meetings prior to and after the work to discuss expectations and how those expectations were met. I find this to be an extraordinarily helpful process to make sure that there is no miscommunication on the work done.
